If you'll try to pan the map using map.panTo(coordinate) under mobile Safari, it will just change its center (as using the setCenter() method), without any smooth animation effect. This might happen under other mobile browsers, though I haven't tested further...

No answers for this issue yet? It's a very big deal for me, as it prevents a smooth(er) user experience for people browsing the map via external triggers (like links that should move the map's center smoothly - so the user would see where the map is coming from)...
Any estimation for this fix?

Can you please include a link to your example?

If the change is less than both the width and height of the map, the transition will be smoothly animated.

Hi,

Here's a sample behaving as described above: http://ng.ro/panTo.html

Under computer browsers, it works great. But using an iPhone 3GS... panTo just re-centers the map, without panning.

Just press the "Pan Map" link, from the top-right corner...
