apologies for a brief Smokey outage that happened, I kinda broke networking on the box it sits on...
it's all fixed now, but wanted to give you guys my apologies :)

Well, thanks for all those other moments when Smokey is up and running. :)

I just made my first non-tag-removing/changing edit

@Louis I tried limiting downtime but when I realized I broke networking, I brought a backup up temporarily... though that one was real slow compared to where it is now :P

@ThomasWard Ah... I'm wondering whether my comment came across as sarcasm, but I was sincere. I'd rather have Smokey be down every now and then than not have Smokey at all.

@Louis Oh, no, interpreted literally as sincere.
That said, I did notice I fubar'd and tried to fix the mistake with the backup
!!/location

@ThomasWard teward/Aurora

teward/Aurora's it's primary home. when that's down and I launch the backup, teward/ESXi2 is it's secondary backup home
those two sync every other day from Aurora -> ESXi2, so it's never too far behind :P
Basically, shooting myself in the foot by screwing network routes is a bad thing, so blah :P
blurgh I need some more coffee... let me know if Smokey misbehaves again, I'll hit it with a hammer.

This may be my favorite question of the day: stackoverflow.com/questions/41389274/…

1:05 AM
@MikelF lololololol oh I needed that, thanks

@ThomasWard if you didn't bring this up I wouldn't have noticed anyway :)
thanks for keeping things running

@ThomasWard bot abuser

@MikelF and by "hammer" I mean the button that shuts off that VPS :P

Goddammit clicked the wrong button

@QPaysTaxes Was wondering about that

1:44 AM
I hate that, I've done it once or twice
tag question not a burninate request only 5 posts

@YvetteColomb It just looks like he was disrespecting you :)

@YvetteColomb way too specific yeah, but not outright meta/terrible/ambiguous, so it'll probably stay

@MikelF haha not at all, he used to call me old and for that I did give him some cyber slaps, but I really don't even think he felt them
added an edit, my concern was that we can essentially have endless tags. How detailed do we want them?
@QPaysTaxes feel free to edit my meta post to best explain what I'm saying and what you commented on. I'm not the best meta author

@YvetteColomb Huh?
Oh, that Meta post

well I think your comment expresses what I'm trying to say, about the specificness of the tag
lol yeh that
did you see my comment about you above

1:51 AM
The thing is that GKGameSession is, AFAICT, the main interface for a library
Which makes the tag equivalent to, say, , albeit less used.

hm
oh well maybe a bad quesiton

Tiny gave a good answer that's basically what I was saying

@QPaysTaxes in that case we should probably synonymize it with

@approxiblue I dunno. I feel like that'd be equivalent to making synonymous with
Then again, I've never used GameKit, and I'm basing my opinion on a quick scan of the docs.

@approxiblue my prob is I don't know enough about the topic

1:57 AM
@QPaysTaxes It burns me that I like to use the stand-alone asio library but that tag belongs to something else.

The standalone Asio library is the same thing as the Boost one, except that the Boost version uses some Boost niceties and interoperates with the rest of the library well
...Wait, I misunderstood what you wrote
brb, beating myself to death with waffles

@QPaysTaxes Not exactly. The 1.11.0 asio build diverges and is much closer to the networking TS

@QPaysTaxes y brain left the third b out of that when I read it the first time
@Yvette you know you just broke my answer right?

@TinyGiant yeh, just fixed it lol

lol

2:00 AM
it's the story of my life lately, breaking everything
good answer, I won't accept it atm, want to see if some other people post, want to know what people think

That's OK, a job that was supposed to take 1.4 hours took me 6.5 hours today

@MikelF ...how long ago was the 1.11 build? I wanna know how out-of-date I am

back in a bit
Don't burn the place down, mmkay?

@QPaysTaxes You may not be out of date... the github repository shows the release date for it as 2/2015... with for 1.10.x releases since then...
but it's a developmental build

@TinyGiant tell me about it.
@TinyGiant pun intended? burninate

2:05 AM
and when I did a side by side comparison with the previous networking TS draft, the 1.11 function set was much closer to the standard than the 1.10.x set

Ah alright

has anyone else added burninate to their dictionary?

any my goal was to get a jump on the new standard
rather not learn a new library only to have to jump against when it gets rolled into the language
I am not getting any younger, so I'd like to save some of my tricks

I'm getting lots of youngsters-- oh wait you said "younger", whoops haha

I'm not getting any more of those either

2:09 AM
Wait, you mean you don't use souls to power your computer?

@QPaysTaxes I use a Mac.... it's powered by kittens.

Ohhh
Yeah, I'm on Windows. It's either puppies or souls, and I like dogs.

It is spammy...

@approxiblue I would have approved that one. Uppercase keywords add readability

@4castle I was too harsh, yeah. I was thinking SQL is case-insensitive so it doesn't matter.

@TinyGiant I have a JS question for you
is he back?
or is he front?
or is he back to front?

3:09 AM
@YvetteColomb Sup?

ah good
we have an asp.net mvc app
deployed
when I throttle the network to test load times, there are occassional JS errors coming up
giving me a 505 error and it's like the controller in the C# is being called, before the data can be passed to it?? or it's not grabbing some other functions from within the bundled JS? Is this possible with throttled times? It does not happen when the internet speed is ok. Would this be a bug in the code?
OMG!! That sounds like such a bad SO question!!!!!
I should go post it now!!!

Sounds like server dropping requests
Are there many AJAX requests happening very close together when this happens?

505 is "HTTP version not supported"
That shouldn't happen

@TinyGiant probably

@JanDvorak I've had it come up with dropped requests before. Usually when there are a lot of requests being performed at once

3:15 AM
I would think that defies the HTTP standard.

hm not so much ajax, but a lot of JS behind the scenes reformatting the page
@JanDvorak it's only happening on a throttled internet

@YvetteColomb There has to be AJAX to get a 505 error

yes there is one ajax call def

could you post a screenshot of the errors in the console?

Still a violation of the RFC defining what 505 means

3:15 AM
you asked if there were many
yep
in another room?

sure test fac

@TinyGiant oh ok, ignore other request

Q: Burninating [geojason] - this is really just [geojson], right?

dbcRecently I've been fixing questions that contain the string "Jason" but should, instead, contain "JSON". I have just found the tag geojason with 11 questions. I assume that should be geojson with 1,613 questions. Before I retag those 11 questions, I'd like to confirm I'm not making a mistake...

how can i improved my question

@cristanlika Oh, lol I was just about to link to my comment. Thanks

yea thanks i got that one
@4castle

Your question needs a lot of work. There is no problem statement, no example input, what I'm guessing is the expected output (the image) is not well explained, and no expected output. I don't know enough about the topic to know whether the example is an MCVE or not, but if it isn't then it should be.

my question where is the vote ?
there having two vote what's going there any tell

@4castle

You got two upvotes and two downvotes so far
Also, your question is lacking an interrogatory statement.

but why ? immediately two down voted .. someone angry on me
however thanks

Or your question is low quality and they are sending you a signal that it should be improved.
