Microsoft Volume Licensing programs serve organizations that acquire five or more licenses, but do not need multiple copies of the media and the documentation, and do not want to keep track of numerous individual license agreements. Volume Licensing offers the potential for substantial savings, ease of deployment, flexible acquisition, varied payment options, and other benefits, such as ongoing maintenance. Volume Licensing programs are tailored to the specific needs of you and your customers, based on program type, organization size, and market segment.

The Microsoft Enterprise Agreement offers the best value to organizations with 250 or more devices or users who want a manageable Volume Licensing program that gives them the flexibility to purchase cloud services and software licenses under one agreement in response to the changing technological landscape.

The minimum requirement for the Enterprise Agreement is changing from 250 to 500 users or devices for new commercial customers on July 1, 2016.

Enterprise Agreement Subscription

The Enterprise Agreement includes a subscription option that lowers initial licensing costs because customers subscribe to the rights to use Microsoft products and services instead of owning them. The Enterprise Agreement Subscription program also includes the ability to increase or decrease subscription counts on an annual basis.

Enterprise Agreement Enrollments

Enrollments are a cost-effective way to license Microsoft solutions to meet organizational objectives. The enrollment agreement structure allows for the easy addition of new products, services, and licensing options to better support future licensing and deployment scenarios. Two major enrollments are available under an Enterprise Agreement.

Enterprise Enrollment

The Enterprise Enrollment allows committed customers to standardize broadly on one or more user technologies from Microsoft.

Enterprise Cloud Suite

The Enterprise Cloud Suite (ECS) offers the best value to Enterprise Agreement customers wanting to purchase Office 365 E3, Enterprise Mobility Suite and Windows Software Assurance Per-User and is available as a user subscription license (USL) or an add-on to the Enterprise Enrollment.

Server and Cloud Enrollment

The Server and Cloud Enrollment (SCE) allows committed customers to standardize broadly on one or more of the four server and cloud technologies from Microsoft. SCE has replaced the Enrollment for Application Platform (EAP) and Enrollment for Core Infrastructure (ECI).

Microsoft Open License

Open License is a good choice if your customer is a corporate, academic, charitable, or government organization that wants to pay as they go. They must have a minimum initial purchase of five software licenses for an Open License agreement, and they can acquire additional licensed products through Open License in any quantity at any time during the two-year agreement term.

Open Value is a comprehensive Volume Licensing program for small and midsize commercial and government organizations that want a flexible and affordable way to purchase on-premises licenses. Open Value is also an easy way to subscribe to select cloud-based services for the latest Microsoft technology.

Microsoft Open Value Subscription

Open Value Subscription provides the lowest up-front costs of the Open program options with the flexibility to reduce the total licensing costs in years when the desktop PC count declines. This option gives your customers the rights to run the software throughout their organization only during the term of the agreement with Microsoft. They also have the ability to add the single platform option to an Open Value Subscription agreement.

Select Plus is being retired.

Effective July 1, 2016, in markets where the MPSA is available*, Microsoft will stop accepting new orders and Software Assurance renewals through existing commercial Select Plus agreements at the customers’ next agreement anniversary date.

The MPSA offers a more modern licensing platform that enables customers to buy licenses for online services, software, and Software Assurance through a simpler and more flexible agreement.

*This retirement does not apply to government and academic Select Plus agreements or where the MPSA is unavailable on 1 July, 2016.

Organizations with more than five users can easily subscribe to Microsoft Online Services through Microsoft Online Subscription Program (MOSP) and integrate services with Microsoft products that they have already licensed. With the Microsoft Services Provider License Agreement (SPLA), service providers and independent software vendors (ISVs) can license eligible Microsoft products on a monthly basis, during a three-year agreement term, to host software services and applications to end customers. The SPLA program provides the license rights to host specific Microsoft products as outlined in the Microsoft Service Provider Use Rights (SPUR) with pricing based on use rights. The SPLA is offered through authorized SPLA resellers.

The Microsoft ISV Royalty Licensing Program offers independent software vendors (ISVs) a convenient way to license Microsoft products and integrate them into a unified solution. ISVs can then replicate the business solution and distribute a fully licensed solution to their end users.
