Draftkings MMA Rumble in Gotham
The Rumble in Gotham, coming November 12, is DraftKings's new fantasy MMA contest, based on the UFC 205 card. It is the first-ever qualifier-only MMA contest, limited to a field of 25 qualifiers, and offers $100,000 worth of prizes.
Until November 5, DraftKings will be running qualifying contests for anywhere from $3 to $1,000, and players can qualify up to three times during this time to increase their chances of being picked for the main contest.
Players in these competitions get $50,000 in fantasy dollars to draft a stable of five fighters, and score based on their fighters' real-world performance. Points are scored based on round-by=round wins, with extra points for takedowns, significant strikes, advancement of holds, and so on.
There will also be satellite competitions available for $0.25 and up, with qualifying contest tickets available as prizes. So a lucky and MMA-savvy player could win a spot in the big contest for as little as a quarter.
Every participant selected to compete in November 12's Rumble in Gotham will receive a prize. The winner takes home $25,000, with $15,000 for second place and $10,000 for third, all the way down to a minimum prize of $1,000 for the last-place finishers.
