New release 2.5.9, beta first!

We have had some migration issues with our medialibrary, this is why VLC 2.5 is not pushed to everyone yet.
We also had some crashes due to Android not loading native libraries.

This new release should fix these issues, and I pushed it in beta first. It should arrive in the coming hours.

Here is the changelog between 2.5.8 & 2.5.9:

Application:
* Background/PiP option has been relocated to main preferences pages
* VLC now remembers if you want to show the current playlist or cover
* Fix crash in Videoplayer
* Fix crash in Browsers on device rotation
* Misc. fixes

TV:
* Reworked icons
* Fix audio ducking, VLC now pauses during notifications

Note:
Migration from versions 2.5.6/2.5.7 will cause the medialibrary to be wiped and scanned again. Sorry for your playlists :x

2.5 RC is here!

2.5.0 is in the air, it's a RC for a full 2.5 deployment.

Here is the changelog:
* Fix playback launch from widget or headset
* Fix browser overlapping other views
* Fix display in audio when no audio has been discovered
* Misc. fixes

This is the end of this beta stage, next week it will become the production release.

I'm sorry for those who don't have there feature implemented, VLC for Android depends on VLC core, and core is being freezed for 3.0 release.
4.0 release should happen quicker than this one and it should unlock some interesting options for Android app.
In the mean time, 3.0 will bring some killer features :)

Thank you very much for all your feedbacks! It's been really helpfull and VLC became a much better app thank to you.
Medialibrary has been a pain to stabilize, but it will be used in every VLC application:
integration in VLC-iOS in ongoing, and it will be integrated in desktop VLC too.

Next steps will be to make it faster of course, but also parsing network shares and scrap online info to get good classification and presentation.
Which will make VLC a fully-featured mediacenter.
I'll work to make it optional, for those who still prefer VLC as a lightweight media player

Version 2.1.20 ready!

This is (I hope) the last iteration before 2.5.0 release.
So do not expect new features now, we'll try to stabilize the application to get it ready.

* There is a regression which causes crash when service are launched from background (e.g. with PLAY button from remote when VLC is closed) (fixed)
* There is a regression in UI display, when going back to video/audio from browsers (fixed)
* Medialibrary is still slow, it will be optimized after the release unfortunately :(
* Playlist files support is almost ready, it will arrive right after the stable release
* ssa/ass subtitles format is still screwed up

Breaking news!

The good one:
I just pushed a hotfix release for 2.1.17, some users had a crash on app startup (and another one when selecting equalizer in video player)

The very bad one:
Yesterday night, I had the really bad idea to stop beta in order to prevent you to receive the crashing 2.1.17 release.
Now, beta program is back ON but it seems we've all been unregistered from it.
In play store we see "beta registration is in process) but I'm not sure if true or just a bug from Play Store.

You probably have to register manually once again to the beta program.

Sorry for inconvenience :/

We are all back in beta program \o/
