What? I doubt that the couple of bananas they pay the bunch of lobotomized monkeys they call a dev team amount to a whole lot.

Update:

There is a longer format report form for posts and a shorter one for comments. (KiA Rules only)

The report form for comments is obviously lacking reporting for R7/R8/R9, since those rules apply to posts only.

That's not to say reddit hasn't been all glitchy as fuck lately...

[edit]

I thought this didn't need mentioning, but... You actually need to click: "It breaks r/KotakuInAction's rules" first, before the next button will take you to the KiA custom options.

It is interesting and it's very much focused on modern progressive ideology in gaming, which hits close to the heart of this purpose of this sub.

The discussions themselves are also detailed and well-argued. It's a worthwhile read.

Since this post focuses very much on the content written, rather than the fact that it's on reddit and reddit has very little to do with the thrust of the post, it kinda sqeaks by Rule 9.

It Breaks Rule 7 (Don't Post Bullshit)

Let's get a source on this from somebody that's just a little bit more credible than a Swedish copy of Anders Breivik.

[Everything Is Sexist] Hindustan Times: "A US House of Representative candidate and feminist, Brianna Wu" accuses War for the Planet of the Apes of sexism for having no spoken dialogue lines for female apes, who only communicate with hand signs, and describes them as "women" by SupremeReader in KotakuInAction

[–]nodeworx[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to add a second opinion here... Wu running for office was the exact test case for unrelated politics... She is running, netting her an automatic -2. The jurisprudence if you will we are basing things on.

Given that the article deliberately makes a point of mentioning her status as political candidate, there are not two ways about it here.

You are free to contest that in modmail for the future, but the ruling as is here stands,

PLAYERUNKNOWN's BATTLEGROUNDS Creative Director Retweets Patrick Klepek over and article where Livestreamer Dr. Disrespect over "impact of violent words". by Wixeogames in KotakuInAction

[–]nodeworx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In EvE this is kinda called Tuesday.

Now, I don't know enough about PBG to call this one way or the other... Some games enable gamers and underhanded actions are part of the gameplay, in others maybe they don't.

That said, if the mechanic exists in the game, it should be open for players to use in any way they want.

If you don't want players to be able to kill teammates, make it impossible to do so. If you give them the ability to do so, expect players to use the means they have available to them to the fullest extent possible.

It's part of what defines being a gamer. You use everything you can, you try and find the loopholes, you try everything the games lets you get away with.

Banning somebody for simply using the functionality you built into the game is just a very shitty move.

I realize that game devs can't always conceive of every eventuality, especially in games that are still in alpha/beta state.

However, you don't ban and remove the players that help you to figure out what you might have missed the first time around. These are the most valuable people you have, the people that show you where you might want to tweak the game.

If you are going to ban these kinds of people before your game has even been published, then don't expect many people to ever want to spend money on your product.

Fuck, it's not really all that complicated!

You work with your community, not against them. And a momentary bit of virtue signalling just amounts to digging out the ground from underneath your own feet.

It doesn't really take a genius to understand how this shit works.

I'm an ArmA and DayZ fan, and I've been kinda eyeing the posts about PBG here on reddit for a while now. It seemed like an interesting concept. This sort of shit however just really turns me off from ever wanting to try it.

What is the point of spending time and money on a game when these sort of arbitrary decisions can take it all away from you just because you decide to use a game mechanic in a way the devs disagree with.
