I remember chatting to a Brit who had lived there for six months and announced, "I have to go to the bathroom." I immediately started wondering why the bloody hell a grungy pub in central London would contain a bath for its drinkers.

Facebook doesn't "care" about you, Autocorrect isn't actually trying to help, and the rear left door panel from a car you once drove, many years ago, rarely stops its daily business to wonder where you are now and whether you are doing ok.

No, it's all quite relaxed. Just three books to write in the next eight months.

It's also important not to boil the broth, since - as everyone knows - that can impair the flavour.

Sometimes I feel like a big pot of broth. In the broth is a load of stuff that's happened to me, walks I've done, books I've read, interesting people I've met, and I am always dying for the broth to be ready, but it takes as long as it takes. And then when it's done, it's a book.

A print of my photo of these spooky Derbyshire trees - which inspired 's wonderful cover art for my latest book Help The Witch - is now available with a pledge for my next non-fiction book. It's called Ring The Hill & you can read about it here:

Yes, sadly none work any more, since I had my site updated. The only way to get to them is via the homepage (go to Writing). But I don't think the Saga ones work at all any more.

It is the petty hill I will die on, but I cannot accept Helen Mirren as Nic Cage's mother in National Treasure 2. Because she would have taught her baby to refer to her as MUM not MOM.

Buying books from my publisher to sell and post myself seems like a good idea until I remember how dozy I am and keep sending two to the same person by mistake.
