Turkey intensifies crackdown on police and media

Some 13,000 Turkish police officers have been suspended over claims they have links to the organisation of cleric Fethullah Gulen, alleged mastermind of July's failed coup, the Turkish government announced on Tuesday. Also on Tuesday police raided pro-Kurdish IMC TV channel and cut the broadcast in the middle of a programme. About 20 TV and radio stations were banned last week for broadcasting "terrorist propaganda".
