Admissions
Who we are. What we do.
The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art, founded in 1859 in the East Village of Manhattan, is an internationally renowned all-honors college that awards every admitted student a half-tuition scholarship valued at $21,000 per academic year (2016-2017). The Cooper Union is comprised of three schools specializing in architecture, art and engineering that have shaped generations of the world's top creators. In addition, courses within the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences provide an opportunity for students across all three schools to learn side by side through the core curriculum. Offering both undergraduate and graduate degrees, Cooper Union boasts an excellent faculty, proximity to premiere art and science institutions, and the tech corridor known as Silicon Alley. Fostering a culture of collaboration through small class sizes and an 8.5:1 student to faculty ratio, Cooper teaches students to reimagine our world. For over 155 years, New York City has inspired and thrived on the contributions of The Cooper Union community.
