Trump team seeks names of officials working to "counter violent extremism"

The Obama Administration developed a program, to defang the War against Jihadist Islam, called ":Countering Violent Extremism. (CVE)"

Here's some information on the CVE program from Stephen Coughlin.

Suffice it to say, the CVE is simply a way for our government to "combat terrorism" while ignoring the inherent and treasonous threat from Sharia which is endemic in Islam.

Additionally, the CVE Program attempts to conflate Islamic Jihad with other forms of less prevalent "extremism", such as White Nationalism and Eco-Terror. While those threats are to be taken seriously, when they arise, the fact is, the organizations supporting such extremism are not large or well-funded, and the evidence of their weakness is embodied in the relatively small number of attacks and body-count.

So now we have the incoming Trump Administration looking to get information on all persons involved in the CVE Program within the ranks of our DHS and other departments.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has asked two Cabinet departments for the names of government officials working on programs to counter violent extremism, according to a document seen by Reuters and U.S. officials. 

The requests to the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security involve a set of programs that seek to prevent violence by extremists of any stripe, including recruitment by militant Islamist groups within the United States and abroad. 

Reuters could not determine why the Trump team asked for these names. The Trump team did not immediately respond to a request for comment. 

Trump has frequently criticized President Barack Obama for not doing enough to battle Islamic militants and for his refusal to use the term "radical Islam" to describe Islamic State and other militant groups. 

Some career officials said they feared the incoming administration may be looking to undo the work that the Obama administration has done on countering violent extremism. 

"They're picking a few issues to ask for people's names," said one government official who spoke on condition of anonymity, reflecting wider fears that those who worked on such issues could be marginalized by the new administration. 

Earlier this month, Trump representatives had asked the U.S. Energy Department for the names of staffers who worked on climate change policy. 

The White House expressed concern that it may have been an attempt to target civil servants, including scientists and lawyers. 

The Energy Department balked at providing names and a Trump spokesman disavowed the request. The State Department declined to comment on specific requests from the Trump transition team. 

The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to emailed requests for comment. In a Dec. 9 email seen by Reuters, Trump representatives at the State Department sought a list of positions in the counterterrorism bureau's office of countering violent extremism. 

"Please indicate names of people serving in those roles and status (political or career)," the email said, referring to political appointees and career civil servants. 

Three U.S. officials, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a similar request had been made to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). In that case, the Trump transition team asked for the names of members of an interagency task force on countering violent extremism that the Obama administration established in January, the officials said. 

According to a Jan. 8 DHS statement, the task force falls under the leadership of DHS and the Department of Justice, and includes officials from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the National Counterterrorism Center and other government agencies. 

Several of Trump's top national security advisers have cast the fight against Islamic militants as an existential conflict between civilizations, according to a review of their writings and public remarks.

“Trump is a good negotiator. Let’s see if this give him some leverage,” he said, adding if the world body overturned the measure, the UN “has got a chance to reset and let the new administration restart the peace process.”

All our Ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, is missing is a fiddle. For the duration of the seemingly endless Syrian civil war, she has figuratively fiddled while that country burns. 

Now, with one foot out the door from a tenure that has all but obliterated her once formidable reputation as an anti-genocide activist, she’s decided to kick Israel in the teeth. 

What most amazes me about this past Friday’s anti-Israel resolution that was cooked up by Barack Obama, John Kerry, Susan Rice, and Power is not that it took place. 

We have long known that the quartet had this in the works, and my organization, The World Values Network, even took out a full page ad against the proposed UN resolution a few months back. 

Rather, the truly shocking part is that the most senior members of the American foreign policy team were pushing this resolution through while Aleppo burned. 

Just imagine — there is a genocide going on for years in the Middle East in general and Syria in particular. It involves ISIS targeting Yazidis and Christians for extermination, and, in Syria, Shia Muslims joining Alawites to exterminate Sunnis. 

This is the classic definition of genocide where an ethnic group is target for annihilation. 

As someone who has dedicated much of his public life to fighting genocide, I was once honored to support Samantha’s nomination to the UN post, even while others were outraged, because she was one of the world’s foremost voices against mass murder. That was prior to entering the Obama administration, and adopting a policy of humiliating silence as Iran threatened genocide against Israel and actual genocides were carried out in parts of Africa and the Middle East. 

Power holds her unique position for speaking truth to the world’s powers, but once in power herself, she held her tongue while people are being murdered every day in the Middle East and North Africa. Shiites and Sunnis kill each other on a daily basis throughout the Middle East while thousands die in Sudan, Nigeria, Libya and Yemen. 

Under Samantha’s watchful eye, hundreds of thousands of Syrians have died and become refugees. Let’s not forget the carnage in Syria is largely a result of Obama’s disastrous foreign policy. When he precipitously pulled American troops out of Iraq, he created a vacuum that has been filled by Iran, ISIS, al-Qaeda and other radical Islamic groups. 

Rather than work to bring down the brutal Assad regime and support Syrians who reject his totalitarian rule and the proposed Sharia law of the Muslim extremists, Power stood by while Iran and its Hezbollah terrorist puppets rushed in to bolster the tottering Assad regime.

Switzerland: Anti-Christian attack in Longeborgne: three wounded, including one seriously 

Christians were attacked with cold steel — always the weapon of Islam — for going to Mass this Sunday morning at Our Lady of Longeborgne, Brumous. 

On the social networks, eyewitness reports speak of a knife attack against three faithful of the Hermitage of Longeborgne — one of which was seriously wounded — who were on their way there. 

One of them succeeded in crossing the roadblock made by the aggressors, and arrived in Longeborgne with his face covered in blood. 

He was taken to the hospital as soon as the police arrived. According to the priest, his condition was not worrisome, but another victim was reportedly found by the policemen on the ground and seriously wounded. 

“There was no mass, for the faithful were stopped by a person who assaulted them. It was probably a sharp weapon,” said Father Francis, the rector of the Hermitage. 

One of the wounded was able to reach the holy place and was treated on the spot before being transported by the emergency services. 

Three people, two women and one man, were stabbed. The latter was seriously injured. Numerous police patrols, dogs and a helicopter were deployed in the Gorges de la Borgne.

Obama Quietly Signs The “Countering Disinformation And Propaganda Act” Into Law - a.k.a. 'Ministry of Truth'

Late on Friday, with the US population embracing the upcoming holidays and oblivious of most news emerging from the administration, Obama quietly signed into law the 2017 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) which authorizes $611 billion for the military in 2017. 

Recall that as we reported in early June, “a bill to implement the U.S.’ very own de facto Ministry of Truth had been quietly introduced in Congress. As with any legislation attempting to dodge the public spotlight the Countering Foreign Propaganda and Disinformation Act of 2016 marks a further curtailment of press freedom and another avenue to stultify avenues of accurate information. 

Introduced by Congressmen Adam Kinzinger and Ted Lieu, H.R. 5181 seeks a “whole-government approach without the bureaucratic restrictions” to counter “foreign disinformation and manipulation,” which they believe threaten the world’s “security and stability.” 

Also called the Countering Information Warfare Act of 2016 (S. 2692), when introduced in March by Sen. Rob Portman, the legislation represents a dramatic return to Cold War-era government propaganda battles.  

“These countries spend vast sums of money on advanced broadcast and digital media capabilities, targeted campaigns, funding of foreign political movements, and other efforts to influence key audiences and populations,” Portman explained, adding that while the U.S. spends a relatively small amount on its Voice of America, the Kremlin provides enormous funding for its news organization, RT. 

“Surprisingly,” Portman continued, “there is currently no single U.S. governmental agency or department charged with the national level development, integration and synchronization of whole-of-government strategies to counter foreign propaganda and disinformation.” 

Long before the “fake news” meme became a daily topic of extensive conversation on such discredited mainstream portals as CNN and WaPo, H.R. 5181 would task the Secretary of State with coordinating the Secretary of Defense, the Director of National Intelligence, and the Broadcasting Board of Governors to “establish a Center for Information Analysis and Response,” which will pinpoint sources of disinformation, analyze data, and — in true dystopic manner — ‘develop and disseminate’ “fact-based narratives” to counter effrontery propaganda.

Asked what he would like to happen in 2017, he said he hopes that “Obama catches mad cow disease” and dies after having relations with a Hereford, a type of cow. Asked what he would most like to see go, Paladino responded that Michelle Obama would “return to being male” and be “let loose” in Zimbabwe.

It’s not that often that you find someone you just look at and think, ‘don’t you say an effing thing that means you are on my side, even if I am up against satan’.

NORAD's Santa Tracker Began With A Typo And A Good Sport

This Christmas Eve people all over the world will log on to the official Santa Tracker to follow his progress through U.S. military radar. 

This all started in 1955, with a misprint in a Colorado Springs newspaper and a call to Col. Harry Shoup's secret hotline at the Continental Air Defense Command, now known as NORAD.

Shoup's children, Terri Van Keuren, 65, Rick Shoup, 59, and Pam Farrell, 70, recently visited StoryCorps to talk about how the tradition began.

Terri remembers her dad had two phones on his desk, including a red one. "Only a four-star general at the Pentagon and my dad had the number," she says.

"This was the '50s, this was the Cold War, and he would have been the first one to know if there was an attack on the United States," Rick says.

The red phone rang one day in December 1955, and Shoup answered it, Pam says. "And then there was a small voice that just asked, 'Is this Santa Claus?' "

His children remember Shoup as straight-laced and disciplined, and he was annoyed and upset by the call and thought it was a joke — but then, Terri says, the little voice started crying.

"And Dad realized that it wasn't a joke," her sister says. "So he talked to him, ho-ho-ho'd and asked if he had been a good boy and, 'May I talk to your mother?' And the mother got on and said, 'You haven't seen the paper yet? There's a phone number to call Santa. It's in the Sears ad.' Dad looked it up, and there it was, his red phone number. And they had children calling one after another, so he put a couple of airmen on the phones to act like Santa Claus."

"It got to be a big joke at the command center. You know, 'The old man's really flipped his lid this time. We're answering Santa calls,' " Terri says.

"The airmen had this big glass board with the United States on it and Canada, and when airplanes would come in they would track them," Pam says.

"And Christmas Eve of 1955, when Dad walked in, there was a drawing of a sleigh with eight reindeer coming over the North Pole," Rick says.

"Dad said, 'What is that?' They say, 'Colonel, we're sorry. We were just making a joke. Do you want us to take that down?' Dad looked at it for a while, and next thing you know, Dad had called the radio station and had said, 'This is the commander at the Combat Alert Center, and we have an unidentified flying object. Why, it looks like a sleigh.' Well, the radio stations would call him like every hour and say, 'Where's Santa now?' " Terri says.

"And later in life he got letters from all over the world, people saying, 'Thank you, Colonel,' for having, you know, this sense of humor. And in his 90s, he would carry those letters around with him in a briefcase that had a lock on it like it was top-secret information," she says. "You know, he was an important guy, but this is the thing he's known for."

"Yeah," Rick says, "it's probably the thing he was proudest of, too."

Moscow (AFP) - A Russian military plane crashed on its way to Syria on Sunday, with no sign of survivors among the 92 onboard, who included dozens of Red Army Choir members heading to celebrate the New Year with troops. 

The Tu-154 plane went down in the Black Sea shortly after taking off from the southern city of Adler where it had been refuelling, defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov told Russian news agencies. 

It disappeared from radar just two minutes after it took off at 5:25 am (0225 GMT). 

The ministry told agencies there was no sign of any survivors at the crash site and that four bodies had been recovered off the coast of the resort city of Sochi, as authorities launched a frantic search operation. 

"Fragments of the Tu-154 plane of the Russian defence ministry were found 1.5 kilometres from the Black Sea coast of the city of Sochi at a depth of 50 to 70 metres," the ministry said. 

Russia's Investigative Committee said a criminal probe had been launched to determine whether violations of air transportation safety had led to the crash. 

Investigators are currently questioning the technical personnel responsible for preparing the plane for take-off, the committee said. Tu-154 aircraft have been involved in a number of accidents in the past.

Education Minister Naftali Bennett said Sunday that Israel must use a United Nations Security Council vote condemning Israeli settlement activity as a spur to effectively annex large parts of the West Bank, vowing to push ahead with plans to introduce potentially explosive legislation to extend sovereignty to a large settlement near Jerusalem.

Bennett, who heads the right-wing Jewish Home party, has long proposed that Israel extend its sovereignty to large chunks of the West Bank, saying that a Palestinian state in that area poses a threat to Israel’s existence.

Here is the deal …. if the Palestinian PEOPLE (who could have gotten their state in 2000 at Wye River w Clinton and Barak) will swap their right of return for a state it will do TWO THINGS – it will demonstrate they are ready to make the only sacrifice and compromise needed for two inimical states to BEGIN to find a way, and it will GET THEM A STATE

At Wye river the Palestinians BOTH refused to consider giving up right of return AND refused to accept land INSIDE 1948 Israel which was primarily occupied by Israeli Arabs (who were actually refusing to be swapped into some new Palestine as well) in a trade for settlements ‘occupied’ by Jews, many of which were actually the JEWISH QUARTER in east Jerusalem which has been continuously occupied by Jews since the CRUSADES, and was SPECIFICALLY mentioned by the UN resolution naming Jews there engaged in CRIME. Had the Palestinians made the deal in 2000 they would have gotten nearly every single thing they wanted, but they would have given up the right to claim any land in Israel itself.

That moment crystallizes the stupidity of both the UN (if they really wanted a real peace) and makes naked Obama’s REAL thought that the problem in the ME for the USA is ISRAEL, not any Arab or Muslim states. He has an innate dislike for Israel and Americans who believe there must be an Israel (and therefore be secure in that place).

It does so because the only way to get to a two state solution is for Palestinians to ONE DAY come to terms with a sovereign Jewish state which is going nowhere, and yet PREVENT a one state solution in which Arabs vote while this goes on. Thus it will always be the CONCEPT of a 2 state solution which must be adhered to, but the ability of the Arabs to earn that status will NEVER BE REACHED under these conditions.

We are looking at ONE HUNDRED YEARS…at a minimum. Or we were. Today Israel is introducing a bill to outright annex settlement lands in the West Bank.

I’m sure they will wait until Jan 20th to pass it.
The UN will then try to pass sanctions, we will veto and cut off funds, losing our vote in the UN because we don’t pay dues, and that will be that. All because Barack Obama and his UN Ambassador who once called for US troops to enter Israel no matter what Israel thought about that and ‘protect’ Arabs, are DICKS and in every way, INCLUDING THE PART TIME JOB ECONOMY, have left a nearly insoluble mess.

And as for internal political fallout ..how many Democratic Senators must defend their seats in 2018, and HOW MANY are vociferously condemning Obama? Next up, Keith Ellison as DNC chair.

A function held at the Austrian embassy in Germany still served traditional festive fare such as Lebkuchen but rebranded them as ‘winter delicacies’. 

The event was a presentation by the Chairman of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany, Aiman Mazyek, who has written the book What Do Muslims Do at Christmas?: Islamic Faith in Everyday Life in Germany. 

The invitation to guests, from ambassador Nikolaus Marschik, was described as a “cosy get-together with winter delicacies.” 

A reporter attending the event wanted to know exactly what the Austrians suddenly considered “winter delicacies” and asked the embassy for a clarification. 

The ambassador then admitted that the traditional Christmas foods had been rebranded out of respect for Islam.

‘White power’ is to BLAME for rise of Islamist attacks, Sweden’s new anti-terror boss says.

Anna Carlstedt, 45, went on Swedish Radio merely hours after being appointed as the co-ordinator against violent extremism at the Civil Contingencies Agency (MSB). 

Responding to a question about why she thought the country had the most jihadists per capita travelling to the Middle East to fight with the terrorist cause, she replied: “I think there are several different types of hotbeds of extremism. What we see is that there is an interaction between them. 

“It is true that Islamic extremism is growing, but this also results from the extreme right-wing white power movement.” She added that “there is an interaction between these two movements because society is becoming more and more polarised”. 

Ms Carlsted went on to link Islamist terror with Swedes who are unhappy with politicians in the country. She said: “As I said earlier, we are seeing increased extremism and we see a lot of threats and hatred of elected representatives, officials and others. 

“It is something that exists in Sweden and we see it in many other countries.” She added: “It is very important to take advantage of the good forces [‘civil society’] and not let fear and darkness win.”

Muslim In Phoenix Arrested For Plotting Terrorist Midnight Mass-acre Attack On Christmas Eve

Derrick Thompson, who also goes by the name Abu Talib Al-Amriki, was arrested by the Arizona Joint Terrorism Taskforce earlier this week. 

In October, investigators say Thompson made several Google searches including: midnight mass, martyrdom vs suicide and which type of gun is the most powerful. 

He also reportedly posted on his Google Plus account in October, “We need to get down with this ISIS S***.” 

According to court paperwork, it was January 2015 when Thompson tried to buy gun from backpage.com with the intent to carry out an attack for ISIL. However, Thompson is a convicted felon – which prohibits him from buying a firearm. 

Investigators say since 2014, Thompson has been an “avowed jihadist,” and has conducted 100’s of Google searches for handguns, rifles, scopes and crossbows. 

Thompson, who was raised in Arizona, was involved in two armed robberies in 2005 along with two other men. They robbed two men in two days, armed with a handgun and an SKS rifle with a bayonet. 

Thompson was sentenced to seven and half years in prison for his involvement in these crimes. Thompson was released on January 1, 2013. 

Thompson’s arrest comes a month after an 18-year-old Arizona man was sentenced to eight years in prison for terrorism convictions stemming from a plot to attack a motor vehicle office in metro Phoenix.

France: Jewish scholar prosecuted for hate speech for criticizing Islamic anti-Semitism

One of the world’s leading historians on the Jewish communities in Arab countries is being prosecuted in France for alleged hate speech against Muslims. 

The Morocco-born French-Jewish scholar Georges Bensoussan, 64, is due to appear next month before a Paris criminal court over a complaint filed against him for incitement to racial hatred by the Collective Against Islamophobia in France, the group recently announced on its website. 

The complaint, which leading French scholars dismissed as attempt at “intimidation” in a statement Friday, was over remarks about anti-Semitism by Muslims that Bensoussan, author of a definitive 2012 work entitled “Jews in Arab Lands,” made last year during an interview aired by the France Culture radio station, the Collective said. 

The Collective based its complaint on two remarks by Bensoussan. “Today, we are witnessing a different people in the midst of the French nation, who are effecting a return on a certain number of democratic values to which we adhere,” read the first quote flagged. 

The second quote cited read: “This visceral anti-Semitism proven by the Fondapol survey by Dominique Reynié last year cannot remain under a cover of silence.” 

Conducted in 2014 among 1,580 French respondents, of whom one third were Muslim, the survey found that they were two times and even three times more anti-Jewish than French people as a whole. 

“Besides, with the animosity toward the French nation, there will be no integration as long as we will not be rid of this ancestral anti-Semitism that is kept secret (…) as an Algerian sociologist, Smain Laacher, very bravely said in a film that will be aired on France 3, ‘it’s disgraceful to keep in place this taboo, knowing that in Arab families in France and beyond everybody knows but will not say that anti-Semitism is transmitted with mother’s milk,” the quote continued. 

At least 12 people have been murdered in three attacks by suspected jihadists from France on Jewish targets in that country and in Belgium since 2012. 

The anti-Islamophobia collective called Bensoussan’s statements “dangerous and in line with far-right rhetoric” targeting Muslims. 

But three prominent French writers and historians — Jacques Tarnero, Yves Ternon and Michel Zaoui – disputed the allegations, calling the complaint against Bensoussan “scandalous.” 

The cautions taken against Bensoussan “are part of a strategy of intimidation intended to censure any lucid statement, any form of criticism,” they wrote in a statement they published online last week….
