Senior Editor
We're looking for a New York-based Senior Editor to help our editorial team curate and create the best stories on the internet for the front page of Digg. The ideal candidate will be a news junky and internet-obsessed. A sense of humor, creativity, and outside interests are a must. You’ll be managing the team’s direction day-to-day, so experience and comfort managing others is key. If you’re a Digg reader, and you’ve always wanted to try your hand at steering the page, this is your chance. This position is designed to offer opportunities for growth and additional responsibilities very quickly.
Responsibilities
- Selecting new, breaking and/or high quality stories and videos to feature on the front page
- Planning, writing and assigning topical original writing (You’re the kind of person who would have Digg’s Apple event liveblog planned and ready a week in advance)
- Keeping up with "what the internet is talking about"
- Managing editorial team priorities and tasks on a day-to-day basis, reporting directly into Editorial Lead
Requirements
- 2+ years working in a fast-paced, internet-native editorial environment
- Experience setting an editorial calendar (You’ve met the AP Planner before)
- Comfortable managing others
- Comfortable with topics ranging from tech to internet culture to fashion to politics
- Really love coffee or can convincingly pretend to (it’ll help you make friends with the tech team)
Weekend Editor (Friday & Saturday)
We're looking for a New York-based editor to curate the best stories on the internet for the front page of Digg. The ideal candidate will be a news junky and internet-obsessed, with impeccable grammar and writing skills. A sense of humor, creativity, and outside interests are a must.
Responsibilities
- Selecting new, breaking and/or high quality stories and videos to feature on the front page
- Writing smart, funny headlines and descriptions
- Keeping up with "what the internet is talking about"
- ...And doing all this by yourself on Saturdays (and with the rest of the team in the office on Fridays)
Requirements
- 1-3 years editorial experience
- Excellent grammar and spelling
- Comfortable with topics ranging from tech to internet culture to fashion to politics.
- Comfortable using social media
