Features[edit]
Google Keep allows the user to make different kinds of notes, including text, lists, images, and audio. Sharing options enable real-time note cooperation with other users. Users can set time or location-based reminders. Reminders set through Keep are also accessible by other Google applications, such as Google Now. Text from images can be extracted using optical character recognition technology. Voice recordings created through Keep are automatically transcribed. Keep can convert text notes into checklists. Notes can be pinned. Users can choose between a single-column view and a multi-column view.
Notes can be categorized using labels, and notes are searchable based on attributes including their color, whether they have a reminder, contain audio or images, or are a list. On the Android app, swiping a note to the left or right in the notes list archives the note. Archived notes appear in the Archive section. Keep also allows users to create a copy (duplicate) of a note.
On the Android platform, users can create notes and lists by voice.[4]
Updates[edit]
In November 2014, Google introduced a real-time note cooperation feature between different Keep users, as well as a search feature determined by attributes, such as color, sharing status, or the kind of content in the note.[5]
In October 2016, Google added the ability for users to pin notes.[6]
Apps[edit]
Android app[edit]
Google Keep has an Android app[7] that is compatible with Android Wear.[8][9] Once paired with a smartwatch, the top 10 items in Keep show up automatically. Users can create new notes using voice input, add and tick off items on lists, view reminders and snooze notifications.
Time listed Google Keep among its 50 best Android applications for 2013.[10]
iOS app[edit]
Google released an iOS version of Google Keep on September 24, 2015.[11]
It is available for iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch running iOS 8 or later.[12]
Chrome web browser app[edit]
Google Keep is also available as an app for the Google Chrome web browser.[13]
