The Discussion
-
Abhishek Gupta Do we have Visual Studio IDE for MAC now??
-
Clint @Abhishek Gupta: There is Visual Studio for Mac.
-
AnilApex Do UWP apps have full access to hard disc like Desktop apps?
-
Clint @AnilApex: you have access to parts if the end user provides access. Check out https://msdn.microsoft.com/EN-US/library/windows.storage.accesscache.storageapplicationpermissions.futureaccesslist.aspx.

Kwame UWP would take off if Microsoft promotes Windows phone - mobile phone is the common factor of all the devices. Every one has one, period! Come on, Microsoft - if you don't push the phones out to consumers, they will eventually forget about Windows phone.

Geffl UWP has two major issues:
1. Only support for Windows 10. No support for Windows 8.1 or earlier
2. Limitations like "no interop story" or "no elevated execution support"
Number one will be more and more irrelevant over the next years.
Not sure if and when number two will be resolved but as long as these limitations exist, UWP will only be "interesting" for greenfield, simple data entry LOB apps...
