    We determined that some data was preventing necessary automatic processes from running. We deleted that data, which allowed those processes to successfully run and return the database to a usable state.

    The outage began around 10:30pm EST on Sunday, February 3. We tried to restore a damaged database while preserving as much data as possible, but we changed direction to get back online faster.

    The database is large and this process is time consuming. Mandrill users could be impacted in a variety of ways including tracking, bounces, email sends, inbound email, and webhook events. We don’t have an estimated time frame but will post regular updates on our progress.

    A significant spike in writes to one of our five main Postgres datastore instances triggered a Transaction ID Wraparound issue. When this occurs, the database sets itself in read-only mode until offline maintenance (vacuuming) can occur and activity is completely halted.
