Silence is a great tool in many social situations. It's powerful and costs little effort (there's literally nothing to do). You can use it when thinking, when the other side is unwilling to listen, when a conversation gets too heated, or when you actually have nothing to say.

Capitalism is not a solid foundation on which to build a social platform, with many examples such as Google+, Orkut, Friendster, etc showing that business executives can quickly shutdown platform usage without providing instructions how to run and continue the platform.

It's interesting to hear EU politicians complaining that "Zuckerberg has lost control of his own platform". While I tend to agree with that, it's actually advocating for more power, i.e. Facebook hyper-centralization and tighter content moderation, which FB *is* building.

And immutability happens through snapshots of the past when new things are being created. History, archives, screenshots and (e.g. web backwards) compatibility are aiming for immutability. It's not about avoiding change, it's about recording the change for posterity.

Mutability happens through deletion, like every time a product is discontinued or some software is replaced, you lose the old in an unrecoverable way. It's a way of forcing references only to the newest thing, and that's why it's employed in the market.

It's becoming more clear to me that mutability and immutability are ideologies, not just programming patterns.

"Easy": mentally near to my current knowledge or skillset, thus subjective. "Simple": can be encoded or described with little amount of information. (Not authoritative definitions, just my own interpretations)
