    Yes but it's also the other way around. Those in the EU who have argued that in order to be a relevant player, it should avoid taking actions that antagonise Israel and lead to stormy relations, have achieved the opposite: made the EU less relevant.

    Productive? a sideshow that ignored real barriers to prosperity (Gaza closure, settlements, institutional discrimination) & sidelined Palestinian rights. , why play along with obvious farce & praise abusive Bahraini regime?

    Leaving after two productive days. It made me happy to see Arab and Israeli participants sit next to each other at the workshop, and Foreign Minister Sheikh Khaled bin Ahmed Al Khalifa say he wants better relations and peace with Israel.

    Now that the Bahrain conference is over, the actions of Europeans leaders will be crucial in determining the fate of the U.S. plan and whether or not it is accepted as the new reference point for the international community’s approach to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

    The U.S. approach to the Bahrain workshop indicates either a profound naivety with regard to what can be achieved under the current conditions of occupation or an attempt to punish, and internationally isolate, the Palestinian leadership.

    4) No mention of PA despite whole section on Pal. governance. Instead refers to "government" or "applicable Pal. authorities". PA continuation under current name probably not part of US political vision.

    3) At US Gaza conference in Feb 2018, Kushner presentation of Gaza projects went into greater detail & did involve some easing of Israeli restrictions, which aren't even mentioned in the plan now. So an extra year of work on the plan only brought regression.

    Some less noticed aspects of US economic plan: 1) Acc. to earlier leaks a few months ago, plan would involve $65bn, out of which $40bn for Egypt,Jordan,Lebanon. Published plan gives them much smaller share of pie: $23bn out of total $50bn. (Unlikely to see any of that $ anyway)
