    Why did we set up Matloub? Even books published in Palestine have a hard time finding their way to readers in the region. Checkpoints, roadblocks, and ID laws prevent books, as well as people, from crossing arbitrary borders.

    We heard from a generous author about sending books directly to the libraries. Authors can send us info and we'll ask our partner to see if there's interest. The purpose of Matloub is to center what local librarians and communities want to have on their shelves.

    This is why we must support libraries. This is the first batch of books approved by Palestinian children's librarians, and that we can insure can be received. As the campaign grows, & our capacities to purchase books published across the region grows, we'll add more books. (2/2)

    Thanks for the question! Most of the books are printed in the region, where production costs are somewhat lower. Remember too that these prices may seem cheap esp in the US, but not affordable to most people in the region, incl in Palestine. (1/2)
