Campus
A place for discovery
Even in a digital world, location matters. Cornell Tech’s current campus — up and running in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood — benefits from its New York City location. When our future Roosevelt Island home opens in 2017 that synergy with the city will only grow.
When our campus opens in 2017, there will be 2.5 acres of new open space, buildings comprising almost 800,000 square feet and an academic community of nearly 600 people. It will be a new type of urban campus that provides space to think, but one that is also intimately integrated — in both mission and design — with the city.
At Cornell Tech, we don’t aim to just produce the next generation of technologists, but people who will have the skills and confidence to move beyond the familiar. So it’s only fitting that the school’s physical surroundings reflect that vision. The campus is at once a refuge in the wild and a place for discovery, alive with debate and critique, both intellectually and physically. At full build in 2043, there will be 2 million square feet constructed on 12 acres serving an academic community of nearly 2,500 on Roosevelt Island

Campus Design
Sustainability Program
Across campus, sustainable design—and some equally progressive engineering—pushes the edges of current practices. With buildings designed according to LEED, Net Zero and Passive House principles, the campus promises to be one of the most environmentally friendly and energy-efficient campuses in the world. With views across the East River to the city beyond, 2.5 acres of open space—expansive green lawns, pedestrian paths and outdoor classrooms—allow for recreation and encourage healthy living. The Bloomberg Center
The Bloomberg Center—in honor of Emma and Georgina Bloomberg—embodies Cornell Tech’s commitment to collaboration and innovation. Flexible space facilitates easy communication, allowing students and faculty to work independently or in teams. A cafe and terrace invite the public in to share in the discourse. The building aspires to Net Zero energy by reducing consumption by generating its own power. And in keeping with the mission of celebrating creativity, Cornell Tech has commissioned original art which has become integral to the design of the Bloomberg Center. Learn More

Verizon Executive Ed Center
Slated for completion in 2019, the Verizon Executive Education Center will provide another venue for synergy between the Cornell Tech academic community and industry. Campus Master Plan
The Master Plan for the Cornell Tech campus divides campus construction into three phases to be complete in 2043 with the total construction of 2 million square feet. At each phase, design will follow key principles including creating a river-to-river experience from all vantage points, a variety of open spaces, and a livable, sustainable campus.
