Please lobby for a better public transit system that gets people in Hampton Roads to the beach without spending three hours on the bus transferring between three buses to do so, and I'll consider it.

Right!! I Took The Whole Weekend Off Because I Know I Don't Want To Deal With It. I KNew My Job Is Going To Be Super Busy As Well As The Street I Live On!!
-
The oceanfront needs to have a light rail expansion.
-
-
Wouldn't be the first time people cut their nose off to spite the face.
-
They dont want the light rail. They hate that idea3

Isn’t SITW during beach week? I hear nothing but scary shit happening during beach week. This is gonna be a nightmare
-
Yeah,it’s during beach http://week.VA Beach is gonna be a nightmare.
-
Beach week is a huge no for me. Too much crazy shit happens. It’s gonna be a shit show I can guarantee it
-
What I love is that we’ve come back to my hometown to spend a week, rented a condo right on the boardwalk and we can’t access the public beach. Fucking brilliant!
-
That’s horrible!! It’ll be too crowded anyways. I would try a different and less crowded beach perhaps (if you can)
-
We can still get on the beach at Rudee but this whole thing seems poorly planned out. I’m not sure how far north it’s blocked off.
-
I don’t think the the capacity issue was well thought out. There are hotels here in greenbrier that are in the $300+ range for that weekend. It’s going to be a mad house. I’m not going anywhere that weekend.

After 30 years of Greekfest destroying the oceanfront, polluting the ocean the fights, murders, and riots, you want to make it even bigger and invite them to stay in my home? I’m going out of town and will watch this colossal failure on the news.
-
-
By “Them”, I am referring to every single person coming here from out of town planning on attending what will be known as The Great Virginia Beach Riot of 2019.
-
Your concerns aren't uncommon, but my question is: They'll have 10x the security and police in force; isn't that a sign of a safer environment than unplanned College Week events?
-
Beach Week has 3K people, police step up, people still get stabbed/shot/killed. SITW will have 35K. They’re going to make the courts a ton of cash arresting boat loads of people. There are signs at the beach saying ‘no cursing.” Yes, you can be ticketed for public profanity.
-
last year it was estimated about 15K people on Saturday. In the past it has been as many as 30K.
-
100,000 people in ‘89. This will be bigger. Hotels for 100 miles are booked out, and it’s still not enough, city school buses are being used for transportation, locals have been warned automobile travel for residents will be impossible.
