Indian Paint Brush
I took this photo from South Cascade Lake, WA. This area is isolated and all the growth is recent growth since the glacier is retreating. I noticed this solitary bouquet of flowers from the distance. It really stood out as I was on a muddy delta.

White Rock Lakes, WA.
I spent the day exploring around White Rock Lake, South Cascade Lake, and the Dana Glacier. It was a perfect weather day on the Ptarmigan Traverse and an amazing place to visit.

Dome Peak
I took this photo a few days ago of Dome Peak from White Rock Lakes. There were tons of great views on this trip. It is the Southern part of the Ptarmigan Traverse. Most of the area is rock and ice yet every now and then you find a lush green oasis.

This area has so many great views yet it is 13-15 hours from the car for the expert climber. I did one rappel and traveled several glaciers to get to this location. It was worth it. Randy :)

I took this photo a few days ago of Dome Peak from White Rock Lakes. There were tons of great views on this trip. It is the Southern part of the Ptarmigan Traverse. Most of the area is rock and ice yet every now and then you find a lush green oasis.

The Dana Glacier
This is near the Southern exit of the Ptarmigan Traverse, WA. I snapped this photo before getting onto that glacier. One my way in I crossed high on the glacier and on my exit I crossed low. My crossing is not in this photo. I had great weather for a couple of days and was able to explore some new places. Randy :)

White Rock Lakes
There are three lakes here and this one was mostly frozen in August. I took some time to go out on the ice and explore the lake. The Peak in the distance is Dome Peak.

South Cascade Glacier and South Cascade Lake
I was thrilled to get some time to explore South Cascade up close. I deceded the glacier and made my way by streams, deltas, mud flats, to the lake. The Glacier use to cover the lake until recently and new signs of life, flowers and shrubs are starting to grow. The lake colors were fantastic too. So I have a ton of photos and hope to upload more soon. Randy :)

Surprised to Hear Music
I pulled into White Rock Lakes after battling for 14 hours through the typical Cascade brush on a ... " Climbers Path ". As I made my way to my bivouac, after sunset, I came across another group also on the Ptarmigan Traverse. I met Doug from Bend, Oregon and he was out with a couple of teenagers. Doug shared a couple of amazing climbing stories with me.
As I turned in for the night, I heard guitar music. Doug had packed a guitar for his journey and played it at night and also in the morning. The next morning, I snapped this photo of Doug realizing this was such a rare event. I enjoyed ever chord and also the Rare Atmosphere of these Remote Mountains. Doug was into climbing, skiing and other sports and he decided to pick up the guitar just recently.
As he was exiting the Ptarmigan Traverse, I continued in deeper, to pursue my own adventures. It was refreshing to come across another that does not follow the crowds. Few people actually do the full Ptarmigan Traverse and this was his second time.

Doug mentioned seeing a wolf up close, on Bacon Peak, Wa.
He once biked in the rain wearing a wetsuit, across Cascade pass, WA!
Nearly starved with only ~18 pounds of food for 30 days(45lbs is minimum), in Alpine Heaven of the British Columbia, Coastal Mountains.
On that BC Trip, Constructed a raft to exit by river, as planned.

Retreating From Mt Challenger
I was heading down after getting bad weather on Mt Challenger, WA. The clouds and wind were a little too much for me, so changed plans and climbed Whatcom Peak in a White out. Every now and then the clouds would open up, to spectacular views but most of the time I was surrounded in the fog. These large Ice blocks on the glacier, I would cross, hoping none of them would break free. Through out the day I would hear the glacier break apart in various places. Randy :)

It has some technical challenges and is also fairly remote. You just won't find many people on this peak.
