A favorite Climbing Photo for 2017
This is a favorite photo for my year of climbing. For most of the this 4 day trip the air was very smoky and photos that should have been spectacular looked too hazy.
I took the photo in the North Cascades of Washington between Snowking Peak and Mt Buckindy. This was a morning photo and on my last day of the trip. The location is very close to the famous Ptarmigan Traverse and some climbers have called it the Macho Traverse because it is more difficult, the terrain is unforgiving and void of trails. You have to have both a sense of adventure and experience to go for it. I also went solo. If you do the math, about once ever 2 years or so, does a climber venture into the wilderness to find this summits. I didn't see another person nor did I expect to. So I climbed Mt Misch, Buckindy and Snowking.
Mt Misch is the tallest and although a desirable summit, it has been climbed less than 20 times. I checked out the register at the top, documenting all the climbers form the first ascent in 1955.
