Beta Centauri Blues
I went out aurora hunting last night, and this lovely little show danced away for me.
I love how blue the star Beta Centauri came out!
It's the 12th brightest in our sky, so usually the colour gets all blown out.

The Breath of Yasur
Mount Yasur on the Island of Tanna in the South Pacific, is beautiful, awe-inspiring, and well worth the pilgrimage.
It's also apparently the worlds longest continually erupting volcano.

Sunrise in Kaikoura on the east coast of the south island in New Zealand. The previous afternoon there were a few seals around however at sunrise we had to drive around them in the carpark!! You can just see one on the rocks as well. Shot with the Sony A7r + FE 24-70 f4 Zeiss lens. Processed in Lightroom and ON1 Perfect Effects 10.

I've been travelling for work a lot lately, which for a landscape photographer is like being paid in candy!
One morning, my workmate had overslept and I could see the dense fog over the lake just starting to lift.
While he go himself organised, I shot away to the lake shore and captured some wonderful moments of calm serenity.

Making a Point
The Spaniard speargrass is a danger to unsuspecting hikers. Those green swords it pretends are leaves will slice right through your clothes and they hurt like blazes! Having said that, they also make beautiful subjects for late evening backlighting.(Although maybe a little triffid-like?)

I traveled 10,000 miles for this.
Just to be in negative-20C air on the shore of a frozen lake..
Just to see a world where waves freeze as they fall to earth.
Just to experience this brutal and timeless world of ice and snow...
It was everything I hoped for, and more.
