Sophia is a life-like robot designed by Hanson Robotics.
The designers of robots like Sophia still have much work to do in making robots that look, sound and “think” like humans. However, as they make progress, robots could one day appear to be extremely human and perhaps appear to have something like “consciousness.”
While some debate whether this will ever be possible, as the technology advances, Sophia’s appearance and software will certainly continue to improve.
As the developers design these robots, how will they program them to address moral and ethical issues? And whose morals will they have?
What if a robot like Sophia is programmed by a Christian programmer to have Christian moral and ethical foundations? What if Sophia is programmed to “follow” Jesus?
Could there be some ethical, beneficial and important uses for robots like Sophia that we should welcome as Christians... such as helping to take care of the elderly, providing medical care, educating children, etc.?
Will advanced robots like Sophia have mostly positive impact, mostly negative impact or somewhere in between?

This Is What Happens When You Combine Art and Robotics #WearableWednesday
https://blog.adafruit.com/2018/02/28/this-is-what-happens-when-you-combine-art-and-robotics/
This is a video about a robotic helmet that stops tears. Actually this is a video about inventing crazy solutions to problems. No wait, this is a video spoofing the stereotype of a scientist. I discovered this Junie Genius gem on Instructables, and it’s entered into their “First Time Author” contest. There’s a lot of one-liners packed into this project, but underneath there’s solid tech with all the laser-cutting, servo spinning, and Arduino coding that you love. There’s a windshield wiper style eye dryer, a back-patter and a positive message dangler that really make this fun. My favorite trick is using a fixed piece of fishing line to simplify the motor for the back-patting mechanism. If you want a glimpse into the art side, check out Lauren Valley’s site for sculpture, robots and music videos that examine gender and stereotype.
