DeMarcus Cousins Out For The Season With A Torn Achilles

Pelicans superstar center DeMarcus Cousins would tear his left Achilles tendon tonight against the Huston Rockets, the doctors are now waiting on an MRI on Friday is expected to confirm the diagnosis of the Achilles tear.

"We're scared about it," Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said after the game. "I feel horrible for him. Everything that he's done, and what he's tried to do for us this year and what he's made himself and the improvements in all areas that he's made on and off the court, has just been great. I don't want that to happen to a guy that's trying to better himself."

Cousins is expected to miss the rest of the season in the Pelicans 115-113 victory over the Rockets becoming the first team to beat the Rockets with Chris Paul and Caplea in the line- up.

The New Orleans Pelicans beat the Boston Celtics to snap the Celtics' 7 game win streak

More times than not this season, the Celtics have started games off slow but have found a way to come back and win. Last night's game was a little different — the Celtics found a way to get back into the game, but were unable to pull off the victory. The Pelicans finished the first quarter with a 32-25 lead and went into halftime with a 58-48 lead. Kyrie Irving would score 16 points in the third quarter to cut the lead to 78-77, but the Pelicans would score the final 6 points of the quarter to take an 87-80 lead heading into the fourth. Down 104-102 with 20 seconds remaining in the fourth, Kyrie Irving would knock down a shot to even the game and send it to overtime. The Pelicans would take more control of the game in overtime and would hold a 116-113 lead with 12 seconds remaining. Irving would later miss a game-tying three-pointer and the Pelicans would win its third straight game.

In the end, the Celtics had no answer for the Pelicans big men, or more specifically Anthony Davis. Davis dominated on the glass and finished the game with his second straight 40+ point and 15+ rebound game. He had 45 points (16/34 FG), 16 rebounds, and 2 blocks.

Jrue Holiday had 23 points (9/16 FG), 7 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals.
DeMarcus Cousins had 19 points (7/20 FG), 5 assists, 15 rebounds, and 3 steals.
Ian Clark had 15 points (7/10 FG) and 4 rebounds.

Kyrie Irving had 27 points (5/12 3PT), 2 assists, 7 rebounds, and 2 steals.
Jaylen Brown had 16 points (7/14 FG), 5 assists, and 4 rebounds.
Marcus Smart had 16 points (5/14 FG), 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.
