As a Marketing consultant I am asked all the time " Is  it important to have a Google My business page and Map listing?"

When it comes to finding your business online consumers simply pick up their smart phone and type in what they are looking for and google retrieves that information based on their keywords, so yes it is very important that you have a listing and keep it up to date.

Let me explain:

Googles complex algorithms will determine if you should show up before your competition in that search query by looking at many factors like mobile friendly site, back links to your site from other sites, content and it’s relevancy and whether you have a Google my business page with a map listing.

Here are some interesting stats to show the importance why your local business should want to have an online presence and google my business listing among other citations.

80% of consumers have used local information in google search results to take action

Local searches lead 50% of mobile visitors to visit stores within one day

88% customers trust online review as much as personal recommendations and gauge others experiences to what they can expect when visiting the business themselves

Business address/ location is the primary piece of information sought by local searchers so make sure your (NAP) is correct and consistent in all listings.

28% local mobile searches lead to a sale within one day

72% Of Mobile Users Prefer A Mobile Browser To A Mobile App and google has made it a major factor when ranking business that have a mobile responsive or mobile friendly website.

According to the BrightLocal study, 38% of consumers are impressed when a local business has a mobile-optimized site which conveys instant credibility and shows a business is technological with the times.

This may also indicate the business may have other up to date technologies like the newest credit card chip reader or a loyalty program for further savings.

Now is the time to get your business listed and claimed on Google since Google started deactivating accounts due to not claiming the business or not logging in to the account after a few months of inactivity. Google want to make sure you are still in business and that you are actively working to make your business presence better online.

This has hurt many local businesses lose placement in the google 3 pack and a huge loss of revenue for companies that depend on their online presence, but failed to actively optimize their google my business page and listing.

Now that you have an understanding of the importance of a Google my business listings and what it takes to keep it there give us a call and let us start the process of getting you listed or optimizing your listing for better ranking and more exposure so you can see higher revenue from your listing.

‼ If you're a Business Owner, Please READ! ‼

In the last few months we've found Google My Business listings that were switched back to Private instead of Public, listings that had been disabled for no reason, listings that aren't showing well because updates haven't been reviewed, listings that lost all description and tagline after they had been entered, and a number of other things!

If you want your Business to show in Google Maps, your Local Listing has to be setup correctly and monitored or you could end up losing customers because it's either not showing, or not showing correctly. If you're not sure what I'm talking about and you're a Business owner, reach out and we'll make sure it's setup correctly. I would highly advise you checking it monthly at the very least to make sure it's staying accurate and showing!
