The 1 out of 10 is something like an exchange using profits to subsidize mining fees for customers.
But guess what, these companies are making a killing and are definitely not complaining

A great way to tell a project has nothing to do with BTC is when the company says “moving will save us a lot of money on fees”.
Why would the company pay the fees? 9 our of 10 times this means your service has nothing to do with BTC and no one cares. Just riding the hype train

When faced with these truths, confused CEOs usually say “the community hates businesses”.
Not true. We only hate dumb things!
Bitcoin is money. Would you build your app on top of gold? Would you build it on top of USD? No, those aren’t even sentences. USD isn’t an app platform!

Yes Vinny, please GTFO.
We don’t need your future poorly-implemented pump and dump scheme. You’ll just bicker on and on endlessly about how your spammy service that has nothing to do with Bitcoin can’t function with high fees.

I think @EdgeSecure will be great for newbies once out of beta.
Until then, @ElectrumWallet?

For Android I recommend a combination of @GreenAddress, @ElectrumWallet, @EdgeSecure, and @SamouraiWallet. Also @Bitstamp as a custodial wallet for small amount with free fees.
All have SegWit!

Merry Christmas shitcoin friends!
Here in Israel we have our own altholiday, it’s a low marketcap but we scaled it up to 8(MB) days! Science! ❄️🎊🎄

Yeah but read the introduction for the reasoning behind the need to not trust intermediaries. It's mostly about reversibility.
Anyways, I don't like reading too much into what Satoshi wrote in a PDF file almost a decade ago..

Then we can build payment systems on top of that. And we are.

What Satoshi *did* mention is that payments in the traditional system can be reversed, and that this means the whole system has to work around that.
In order to avoid being able to reverse payments, *you have to have* censorship resistance. That's the basic building block.

Yes there's definitely demand for people and organization wanting to secure their own gold bars. That's not new. Ask around.
Satoshi didn't say anything about not "trusting" PayPal. What are you worried of? That they'll steal your $50 payment?

Interesting. Do you which derivation path should be used to trigger that? For P2SH-P2WPKH it's BIP49

For self sovereignty. For censorship resistance.
This isn't some theoretical threat - the country we live in for example intentionally makes it difficult to acquire gold. Bitcoin is useful here as a replacement.

Well that's fair but if you're just looking to invest in altcoins, isn't it easier to accept payments in fiat and buy altcoins independently of your customers?

Of course it's confusing.
You can also just change its name to something less confusing, like #bcash, and then you can use it together with Bitcoin in the same app with no confusion!

You mentioned Ripple, I don't think they'll agree their goal is to be "free from the banks".
And really, why do you want to be "free from the banks"? What are you trying to achieve? What's your pain when using Venmo/credit card?
