I suspect some people will think John Mearsheimer and I coordinated the near-simultaneous release of our new books (mine: THE HELL OF GOOD INTENTIONS and his: THE GREAT DELUSION). We didn't. Indeed, mine was delayed by > 1 year by the need to deal w/the 2016 election.

I'm grateful to Murtaza Hussain for this excellent and fair-minded review. Post-Cold War U.S. foreign policy has been a near total failure. Two new books look at why. by

Trump claims Saudi arms deal creates 1 million new jobs. Fact-check: the ENTIRE US defense contracting industry employs 335,000 people in the US. Lockheed said the Saudi arms deal would create several hundred new jobs - in Saudi Arabia.

How you respond to the murder of Khashoggi is a litmus test of whether you can be taken credibly on anything. If you swallow this bullshit, you will swallow anything.

Why is it so hard for Thomas Friedman to simply say “I’m sorry; I got fooled by MBS. I was wrong.” We all make mistakes; the question is how we react when our errors are exposed.
