Our food systems are about far more than plant-based is good, animal-derived is bad. We are in grave danger of reducing a most complex of issues to sound bytes and who can shout them the loudest. As with cotton for clothing, it is not all good. Ditto with vegetables.

If people are choosing to eat less meat due to animal welfare and the environment, then the highest standards of both will be an absolutely must for the future of livestock farming. We’ve a fair way to go yet.

A must read for and Here in Ireland you have pushed through the that will devastate our environment without as much as a consultation with environmental NGOs. As for climate change policies...what policies? Please be leaders for us.

Please think of animals this Halloween. Big or small, domesticated or wild, they can all be frightened by the bright lights, loud bangs, smoke and fire. Enjoy the festivities 🎃

Another day, another grim report on the damage we are doing to our planet. Following on from the IPCC report on climate change, the WWF report on wildlife makes for equally uncomfortable reading. We need to act right now.

Shifting baseline syndrome. People think that monocultures of ryegrass surrounded by hedges 2 foot tall has good biodiversity....

I studied ecology in school & learnt of all the risks to our natural world. 40 years on and our worst fears have come to pass. We are killing the very living systems which support our own existence. When will we learn the lessons and halt this decline?

The really heartbreaking thing about this headline is that our government is nowhere near acknowledging the issue, far less implementing policies to address it. Humanity has wiped out 60% of animals since 1970, major report finds
