Boom. Elizabeth Warren calls for breaking up Google, Amazon, and Facebook. It's a good week for anti-monopolists. cnn.com/2019/03/08/pol…

4. Rising wage growth--3.4% annual--now a well-established trend. Great for workers. Won't necessarily spook Fed as long as productivity growth is strong--close to 2 per cent in 4th quarter--so unit labor costs stay pretty steady. But worth watching.

3. My guess. Part of the employment shortfall is real, reflecting slowing growth--especially in manufacturing, where the trade war and global slowdown are biting. Part statistical artifact/rebound from v. strong January figures.

2. Statisticians would say payroll report is better: larger sample. But still has margin of error of +/- 90K. Best to look at 3 or 6 month averages, but of course policymakers can't always wait that long.

#JobsReport shows why some speculators/hedge funds close out positions the night before the employment report. Can be very volatile & hard to interpret. Payroll report: +20K. Household survey: +255K. Who's right?

"The distinctions between most of the candidates aren’t as important as the similarities. The majority of them have endorsed a strikingly progressive agenda..." My take on the Bloomberg/Brown/Hickenlooper/Merkley announcements.

Not sure you are giving King Harold & his lads their due there. That one is called the "Norman Conquest." (A thousand years later, some of the streets where I grew up still had Norman names: De Lacey Mount, etc.)

Just reading some C. 17th history, when Britain stood proudly apart from the perfidious continentals. Except when a Dutch prince invaded and was proclaimed King by popular acclaim. Funny thing, history.

This is, IMO, the key graph from @fhgferreira today's presentation on global poverty. Whatever poverty line between $1 PPP and $15 PPP you choose, there is a decline in global poverty over the past 25y. pic.twitter.com/GYrFmpfFRC
