Also, your now quite frequent reminder that fascism is infinitely more dangerous when mainstream conservatives normalise it than it can ever be by itself.

How many of those pearl clutching over have in the last twelve months compared the EU to a dictatorship or being in a customs union to slavery? How many have mocked progressives as fragile snowflakes for daring to suggest words matter?

This is what happens when historically at-best-semi-literate demographers take ideological categories like “ethnic majority” & think they’re actually-existing empirically quantifiable things. This is why we need historians.

Those who do not think the rising threats of political violence, strident nationalism, attempts to bypass parliamentary institutions and increasing nastiness towards minorities do *not* indicate the beginning of a turn towards fascism must ask themselves... ...what would?

. seriously? You compared the EU to Hitler in 2016. Toxic polarisation is describing black people as "piccaninnies" with "watermelon smiles", Muslim women as "bank robbers" and holding talks with Steve Bannon. Your lurch to the hard right to become PM sickens me.

“End polarisation!” says man who compared the EU to Hitler and attacked Muslim women for looking like “letter boxes” and headed a campaign that claimed millions of Turks were coming to the UK and called Obama “part-Kenyan” and listens to Steve Bannon.

The reason that legal aid has been removed from most in society is because people like Andrew Pierce and the newspaper he writes for have spent decades lying about legal aid, what it is for and how much it costs, creating the political cover for governments to destroy legal aid.

Someone needs to explain to me how pointing out that JRM approvingly quoted fascists is a greater sin than JRM approvingly quoting fascists, and how criticising Farage for calling for MPs to be terrorised is a greater sin than Farage calling for MPs to be terrorised.
