Yeeesh, you thought THAT stirred some insecure feelings...? Watched a documentary, yesterday, called #TinyShoulders (about Mattel's Barbie Empire and the ardent struggle of inclusiveness). Never knew the literal appearance of a doll could spark so much raw emotion in some women.

I grew up playing with @Barbie and I ❤️ my dolls. I used my imagination and I ❤️dressing @Barbie up. It really didn’t hit me until I was 10 that I wanted a doll to look like me. It was great to see how the women in #tinyshoulders made the attempt. So thank you! 😊

Just watched #tinyshoulders documentary about Barbie, body image, and feminism. It made some compelling points in favor of Barbie and her creators giving children more than an icon of unattainable physical attributes to play with. It’s worth watching.

Just watched #tinyshoulders... Kim Culmone is my new hero. @Mattel @Barbie I love #curvybarbie even more knowing the tremendous amount of thought & heart went into the project. Gloria Stienem forgot the 3rd way women change things: by working hard to make the changes yourself.

Also, I’m wowed by #TinyShoulders’s storytelling of @Barbie as a feminist icon. I wasn’t into dolls, and now I understand the allure and what kids tap into when they play with her. I never would have considered @Barbie to be a feminist icon until I saw it framed this way.
