made me laugh, made me think, and ultimately produced a few tears! I never thought a Barbie documentary would hit me right in the feels, but well done. 💁🏼‍♀️

Barbie's had quite a history. Were you a Barbie girl growing up?

In regards to Tiny Shoulders: Rethinking Barbie on I say a big thank you to because I got to be free to dream about what my future could be. I had tons of dolls and a suitcase and she was who I wanna be. Free to be me. So I stand with the company forever.

Yeeesh, you thought THAT stirred some insecure feelings...? Watched a documentary, yesterday, called (about Mattel's Barbie Empire and the ardent struggle of inclusiveness). Never knew the literal appearance of a doll could spark so much raw emotion in some women.

Watching the Barbie doc Tiny Shoulders. 's world-weary "you have to acknowledge progress or they'll never make more" is the most relatable.

I grew up playing with and I ❤️ my dolls. I used my imagination and I ❤️dressing up. It really didn’t hit me until I was 10 that I wanted a doll to look like me. It was great to see how the women in made the attempt. So thank you! 😊

"to put all that on the tiny shoulders of an 11 inch doll is quite a burden." How about on the enormous shoulders of a fortune 500 company?

Y’all watch on It’s an incredible conversation about systems of oppression and attempts at liberation through the lens of . Inspiring story of the women behind her and the vision she has cast for the future of each new generation since the 1950’s.

This is going to bug me today. Barbie and other dolls aren’t the cause of women feeling awful about how they look, it’s the people who tell them they have to look that way is so much more than a pretty face.

Just watched documentary about Barbie, body image, and feminism. It made some compelling points in favor of Barbie and her creators giving children more than an icon of unattainable physical attributes to play with. It’s worth watching.

is really worth watching. And not just for Roxane Gay wryly commenting on "curvy Barbie." It's a microcosm of progressive vs. reactionary thinking within the same company.

Just watched ... Kim Culmone is my new hero. I love even more knowing the tremendous amount of thought & heart went into the project. Gloria Stienem forgot the 3rd way women change things: by working hard to make the changes yourself.

Also, I’m wowed by ’s storytelling of as a feminist icon. I wasn’t into dolls, and now I understand the allure and what kids tap into when they play with her. I never would have considered to be a feminist icon until I saw it framed this way.

1. They call a fashion doll but in what meaningful way has she been promoted as a fashion icon in recent decades? Where is she pioneering new or fascinating fashions? It's about fantasy adult life. Dream house, car, boyfriend, jobs, etc. Not fashion.
