Support for more immigration among white Democrats went from less than 20% in 2012 to more than 50% in 2018. This is a remarkable shift in opinion from the historical baseline. ht

I argue a marked leftward shift in racial ideology has been led by white liberals, with minorities more centrist. Thanks to ⁦⁩ for some graphics

To anyone annoyed about decisions, a note as a first-time (and never-again) program chair. This is a terrible, thankless job involving reading about 350 paper proposals in a dated and almost unusable user interface, then picking ~80 of them to put on the program.

Below is preferred white identity measure (though she is forced to use simpler feelings for lots of the book). I hope it is included on many future surveys, as it may only become more important in a diversifying country Book here: 5/5

White identity not only predicts Trump support (without mattering for other Republican primary candidates) & opposition to Obama, but also historically increased support for Wallace, Nixon, & Pat Buchanan; this helps establish the line of political appeals that led to Trump 3/n

Recommend "White Identity Politics" by White identity & consciousness influences voting, candidate feelings, & policy attitudes independent of racial resentment & animus & played an important role in partisan change in the 1970s & 2010s 1/n

I’m pretty clear in the book that the anti-Muslim discourse and policy is illiberal and wrong. I also think it derives in part from the fact being anti-Muslim is more PC (uses liberal & statist rationale) than talking about majority ethno-communal interests. Must be off

You need to listen to the podcast first rather than rush to quick judgment. We need nuanced discussion, not slapdowns, to defuse these issues

Britain is no longer leaving the EU on March 29th 2019. MPs vote to delay Brexit while a plurality of voters tell pollsters that they oppose a delay, as do seven in ten Conservatives & Leavers. Fragile times in British politics, especially for the incumbent Conservative Party.

My guess is EU27 will agree to the proposal: a delay until 30 June if May's deal goes through, and a delay of 1 year if May's deal goes down, but with the caveat that UK hold's EP elections, to show commitment and to test UK opinion. Will be very interesting elections!
