This bronze head of the Roman emperor Augustus was once part of a statue that stood in the ancient city of Meroë, now in modern-day Sudan. The statue was probably broken up by an invading Kushite army in 25 BC, and the head was seized as a trophy #IObject pic.twitter.com/f4r8lXlOC7
