I just bought much needed running gear. I’m ashamed to say how shredded my summer gear is. I’m three years past due. I did a five mile run in the new gear. Not exactly the “new car smell” I was hoping for but I stole a few minutes in pace.

There are analytic tools that can show the bias. The fact that you defend your profession to the point you say there is no bias in it is why many black people want a new system. Don’t be threatened by data. Use it to bring justice and the profession will be fine.

I was also clear in the testimony that I don’t think people are breaking laws. Legal processes in the home buying and selling process facilitate price differences. Every sector will deny, but the bias comes out in the wash.

And you clearly feel housing prices are free of bias - despite decades of research that shows otherwise. Discrimination exist even if the law says it doesn’t allow it.

The response to clear bias is, “I’m not racist. Don’t look at my field or practices.” Meanwhile, people are hurt, robbed of equity. If white neighborhoods were impacted there would be a revolt.

I clearly stated several times that there is bias throughout. There is no one sector - all combined must work together to correct a broken legal system that negatively impacts black neighborhoods. Alas, no one seems to care about the impacts on people and neighborhoods.

The research is clear that bias exists in lending, selling, appraising, assessing as well as real estate behavior - all Impact price. To deny, is to abdicate responsibility for change. Sad.

I’m more concerned with the legal structures that facilitate stark price differences.
