Agree with all of this. Plus much of the argument by Commonwealth countries is that they need to strip citizenship because of the prohibitive costs of monitoring returnees indefinitely. But my new study shows this threat drops sharply within months.

Yes, there's no easy solution to this but the citizenship route is not a solution and only gives short term relief. We need more creative thinking about how this is resolved. This is why we currently have all these foreign fighters held by the SDF et al, in legal limbo. Not ideal
