Not Austria-Hungary, but definitely worth sharing! French anti-air defence on the Eiffel Tower in Paris. During the war, a radio transmitter located in the tower was used to jam German radio communications

Lucky man. The supply of Verdun was really a logistical masterpiece, and seeing it come to life again (or at least a tiny piece of it) must have been quite an experience!

Same in Germany. And in Denmark they're called 'soldaterhjem' which is a direct translation.

Yes, piles of captured rifles were popular amongst propaganda photographers, but that the army was forced to issue enemy rifles were kept quiet :)

Only a few guns were lent to the Germans (but still operated by AH crews) and used in the West in 1914. After that, they were returned and saw extensive use on all fronts. 79 were built in total throughout the war.
