NORAD will conduct an air defense exercise today over central Wisconsin between 10:00 a.m. and noon Central Daylight Time. Citizens of Dane, Columbia, Marquette, Green Lake counties may see NORAD F-16 fighter jets flying as low as 8,000 feet during this exercise

NORAD will be conducting an exercise over eastern North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland between 11-1300 EDT today. The exercise will involve F-16 fighters and a C-130. All training will be conducted above 10,000 feet.

Surveillance and I.D. of air traffic approaching N. America (200k flights /year) is done using radar info received via satellite from the North Warning System across the Can. Arctic, coastal radars on the east and west coasts of Can., and Airborne Warning and Control Systems.
