In a country where 60% of federal discretionary spending goes to military, the military is (by far) the most respected institution, military references saturate politics, society, movies, and sports, and US is at war in several countries, we are all "militarized" to some extent.

It's a habitual practice in American foreign policy discourse to label foreign policy decisions, which do result into the US obtaining every advantage, as ones of "appeasement."

A beautiful tribute. First time I met Janne, I was an unpaid intern sent into her office. After talking to me for 15 seconds, she asked stunned "why aren't you holding a pen and paper?!" and pointed me out the door. Never made that mistake again.
