"Scared" was used as a form of the verb "scare," so it meant "to be terrified." "Scary" was formed later, in the 1500s, to mean "terrifying," probably to distinguish it from "scared." In "scared," the referent feels terror; in "scary," the referent produces terror.

I had to read the article for a high-school class, and his callousness under the guise of "fairness" made me SO ANGRY that I wrote a letter to the editor of my local paper. It's my first published clip. And marks the point when I realized I was a feminist. (2/2)

Since we're all sharing Alan Dershowitz stories, here's mine! In 1991, the NYT published an article about whether rape victims should be named publicly, and Dershowitz advocated that they should. () (1/2)

You know what's weird, though? Trump didn't start up with the rampant capitalization until very recently. He did start using all-caps in some tweets back in 2014, but the Random Cap Craze really ramped up after the election.
