Absolutely. A trial in the UK and legal aid to help her win back her citizenship

Yes, she absolutely should be entitled to legal aid. I imagine she'll win her case against the gov

On this: none of the information in my story on Shamima Begum is from a gov briefing, it was from speaking to people in Syria who lived under ISIS, And for the record, I wholly disagree with the citizenship decision

Another report demonstrating why women who joined ISIS should not simply be thought of as ISIS brides:

The news of fellow kiwi Louisa Akavi's captivity under ISIS has been made public. A committed humanitarian, she was taken in late 2013 and has been through unimaginable things in the years since then, along with the two Syrian colleagues taken with her.

Probably no less so than the moment she herself decided to speak to the world’s media to plead her case

I hope more than anything that she does get a fair trial in the UK. Feel free to look at any of my previous reporting to see my position on this

Just one whose crimes have partly been uncovered. But there’re dozens of thousands more. Nothing can justify turning a blind eye to the situation and ignoring them any more. These people must be put on trial immediately.

This from the SDF spokesman. ISIS suspects must be put on trial in order for there to be justice for their victims👇

Shamima gave a telling answer in one of her interviews when asked if she was a danger to society. "They don't have any evidence against me doing anything dangerous," she replied

Smart question. Unlike men, foreign women who served in Hisba almost always did so of their own volition. I haven’t seen much evidence of women in ISIS being forced to do anything other than be housewives. Always happy to be corrected by experts though!
