She will likely be hung out to dry by the though, who will likely throw their weight behind a challenger.

Setting aside the fact that 64% of her district is white, the assumption that Black people vote based on race as their sole motivating factor is as bigoted and ignorant as the assumption that all Jews vote based on what's best for Israel.

Judging by the responses, I think people underestimate just how tired Omar's constituents already are of all the controversy and just how open they may be to a well-funded challenger.

The sad thing is, for all our shouting about standing with Ilhan, we all know she'll be out of Congress in a year-and-a-half and that pro-Israel money will play a decisive factor in making that happen. And that's her entire point. And it's being completely obfuscated.

. I am disgusted by the attacks on You are further endangering a Black Muslim woman refugee who is trying to start a long overdue conversation on our support for Netanyahu and the Israeli government's oppressive policies.

Ilhan Omar critics: "It's vile & anti-Semitic for her to allege AIPAC is giving money to politicians to influence them on Israel issues!" AIPAC: "Well, actually..."

one of the triumphs of rightwing Zionism has been to disaggregate anti-Semitism from other forms of racism and prejudice, when everything we know about its history and its present shows that it’s intertwined with anti-Blackness, xenophobia, misogyny, and homophobia

What about elsewhere in the haredi world that is not explicitly Zionist?

Highly recommend "A Threat from Within: A Century of Jewish Opposition to Zionism" which is about the religious anti-Zionist movement. There is, as we say, makhlokes, on whether or not we should even be in the land before Moshiach comes.

I love the land, I love the people, I hate the fucking state.

It's semantic tho. Like, Israel is am yisrael and medinat yisrael and eretz yisrael.

Things are just more nuanced and complicated than people want to account for because it complicates their arguments and makes it more difficult to assume blanket positions that apply evenly.

That's one of the ironies, right? Like, they had that massive rally at Barclays against Israel drafting haredim. That's an expression of love for Israeli haredim! To wish to keep them out of harm's way, physically and spiritually. That's not anti-Israel, IMHO.

If it means, I support the policies of the government of Israel, the answer is hell-to-the-no.

I, for example, am not a Zionist. I support one state with equal rights for all. And if you asked me whether I was pro-Israel or anti-Israel, I would say, it depends on what you mean by pro-Israel but if it means, I care about the people of Israel's well-being and survival, yes.

Right but the question here pertains to a poll question, "Do you consider yourself generally pro-Israel, even if you're extremely critical of the Israeli government, or generally not pro-Israel?" How do you think anti-Zionist haredim would answer?

Well, as I clarified, I think it means supporting the people of Israel vs. the government of Israel. It means caring about what happens to Jews there, even if you don't believe the state should exist for religious reasons. And I don't think he disagreed with that.

The fact that the President of the United States can echo the same tropes Omar is accused of invoking and get away with it epitomizes how her vilification is a product of white supremacy.
