Some politicians have charisma, some don’t. But the idea of “relatability” is deeply influenced by how relatable journalists covering find that candidate to be—so almost by definition, how much those journalists have in common with whichever candidate, in demographics and more

Sirota never acknowledged when he was fired for helping create a fake website using an out of context, racially-motivated quote to hit a black candidate. He did to me when I contacted him earlier today: “I am absolutely ashamed that it happened."

The Mueller investigation seems like it’s gone on forever - he’s been working for well under two years. Time between the Watergate break-in and Nixon’s resignation was two years and two months.

The Sanders campaign ignored requests for comment on hiring (for the second time) a person fired for making a fake campaign website about a black candidate highlighting a misrepresented quote: “The black and the brown, if we unite, we’re going to control this city.”

Sirota was fired from his job as deputy campaign manager in February 1999, with the candidate saying, "I do not want this race to be about race." He was on staff for Sanders as press secretary that fall.

Cornyn fundraising off Beto: "Beto knows that the White House is far out of his reach if he doesn’t take Texas. That means he’ll be visiting every corner of our state, smearing President Trump’s good name, and spreading the mainstream media’s lies."

one thing these three have in common is there's little public indication that any of them would have ever taken Biden's offer, if it was made

In 2015, Biden team’s pick an early VP idea was focused on E Warren. In 2017, it was focused on Kamala Harris. Now it is focused on Stacey Abrams, who if offered, would have to gamble her own future in GA politics against a hope that serving as Biden’s buffer would win the WH.

And Biden himself is in the same place about this one-term/pick a running mate early idea as he was when I reported this last March: he doesn’t like being thought of as old, or going in as a lame duck
