An ally is someone who feels able to say, on behalf of those who are not present, 'they wouldn't see it that way.' Being an ally is saying 'Friend, you are not right' when another says hurtful things. Silence in itself can be hurtful too

It is important to recognise diversity, not to fear it, and to discuss it. "Some say we don't like conflict - 'Quakers are better at being nice than being real.' But being real is a step to understanding and being in community."

"Diversity and inclusion is not about 'blackening the pews,' it's about ministering in the context of a larger multicultural community - class, race/ethnicity, sexuality, gender, disability, nationality & the ability/intersections of these social identities"

Concerning to see moves to deny children their right to grow into their own wholeness by preventing understanding of different kinds of relationships. The affirmation and validation of same-sex relationships, in particular, is deeply important to Quakers.
