“Bankrupting municipal budgets, creating epidemics of preventable diseases, & helping to cause climate change — that’s how you start a conversation about why the suburbs need to change. The argument isn’t ideological, it’s mathematical.” HT

"Good cities know that streets are for people, not just cars. Great cities know that streets are places for people to linger & live, not just move through." säger . Jag håller med och tar kollektivtrafiken till jobbet imorgon igen. Såklart.

When asked to provide my vision for at conferences they are expecting me to say tech. But I simply say walkability. must be at the centre of any future city strategies. Humans need to walk! Tech must serve the city not other way round!

I think it was the great Jan Gehl who first showed those stairs/escalators in an urbanist PowerPoint... or at least he was the first that I saw. Worth a 1000 words at least.

Stating that a carbon tax is about revenue for government when so many have argued for a revenue neutral carbon tax is not "making sense", it's blowing smoke. He should oppose it by proposing something better, if he has a better idea.

When I started working in downtown revitalization in the ‘90’s, I’m glad I got special training/certification thru the National Main Street Center in Washington DC . It uses to align design, econ. restructuring, promotion & organization.

It’s hard to imagine without . It’s even harder to imagine building such a park now, one that defines an urban pattern, as new cities & urban areas are considered. What does that say about our modern city-building vision? HT Tim Sklyarov for remarkable pic.
