Now's as good a time as any to note that Stuart McCutcheon, Auckland uni vice-chancellor, has for years been either the 2nd, 3rd or 4th highest paid public servant in the country, and his salary went up $50,000 in three years.

This is useful analysis of the latest N. Korea stoush. Especially interesting is the way MSNBC seems to be leading the charge against negotiations, while Fox heads its defense. Blind partisanship is a hell of a drug.

The point here isn't that Kremlin propaganda is good, but the absurdity of giving it the outsize importance it receives, and the absurdity of constantly hyping its ability to sow division by, erm, broadcasting liberal messages.
