The central thesis of neoliberalism is that what is good for companies like Facebook happens to be best for us. But ever more people see through that. So when a Facebook flack who used to be in public service says we shouldn’t break it up, we know we must.

"Do you feel you have anything to atone for in supporting the most dangerous president in American history?" is a question that should be asked of any Trump adviser who shows up anywhere forevermore.

When I lived in India, many rich people told me the biggest tragedy was stray dogs. Please write about it, they'd beg. As with Bezos's space dream, it was as if they couldn't deal with the tragedy of millions of human beings, so they transferred those feelings to a proxy cause.

And to answer Laffer's question, I don't brush my teeth with a twig, but we all might if his economic ideas win out.

The above clip also lends support to my observation that there is a strong correlation between guys who preface ethnic groups with "the" -- "the Indians," "the blacks," "the Mexicans" -- and guys who love low taxes.

This was an important, sometimes fierce argument, brilliantly steered, as always, by , one of the great interviewers working today.
