Subtract damage cost from automatic damage deposit

Please note that these instructions only apply if you use HomeAway Payments and have set your refundable damage deposit to automatically refund to the traveler. For manual refunds, see this article.

Log in to your account.
Click Payments.
Choose the correct traveler payment.
Scroll down to Damage Protection.
Under the deposit total, click Actions.
Click Report Damage.
Enter the amount of money you would like to withhold from the damage deposit. This cannot exceed the amount paid by the traveler.
Describe the damage in the box below.
Click Report Damage.

The money will be deposited into your account in 3-7 business days. The remainder of the funds will be refunded to the traveler. The traveler will receive an email notifying them of the funds. We also recommend calling them to explain any withheld funds.

If you need additional time to report damage, you can also delay the refund.

Delay automatic damage deposit refund

Log in to your account.
Click Payments.
Choose the correct traveler payment.
Scroll down to Damage Protection.
Under the deposit total, click Actions.
Click Delay Refund.
In the pop up window, click Delay Refund.

This option will delay the refund an additional seven days from the currently scheduled date.
