Rep. Tim Ryan won't say whether he'll challenge Pelosi
Rep. Tim Ryan still won’t say whether he plans to challenge Nancy Pelosi for House Minority Leader but acknowledges time is running out to make a decision.
“I’m open and we’re all having conversations now,” Ryan (D-Ohio) said in an interview Tuesday afternoon.

But Ryan, who's pushing Democrats to change their outreach strategy in Rust Belt districts like his own, deferred when asked about his timeline for deciding to run or not.
“I would think anybody who would think about challenging a leader would have to make a decision fairly soon,” he said.
“The next two weeks are really going to be about us figuring out [what’s next]—and it may be Nancy Pelosi but maybe it’s not. Who’s best to go in these communities and these states and help pull our voters back into the Democratic fold so we can take the House back,” he added.
Ryan and other Democrats pushing to delay leadership elections scored a major victory Tuesday when Pelosi (D-Calif.) acquiesced to their demands following a tense back and forth.
Democrats will now vote on their top leaders Nov. 30 but any member looking to challenge Pelosi, who’s led the caucus for more than a decade, would have to start laying the groundwork now and even then, it’d be a longshot given her loyal following.
Ryan said he planned to spend part of the afternoon calling colleagues to get their thoughts on next steps.
“I don’t have an answer so I’m not not giving you an answer that I have but won’t give to you. I don’t have one yet,” he said. “This is a big deal. This is a big conversation that we’re all having now.”
