Roadmap update for the 1.2 release

The roadmap has just been updated with the new features of BlogEngine.NET 1.2, which we plan on shipping in September. As you can see it has a lot of new features - some are standard blogging features and some are original BlogEngine.NET concepts.

The 1.2 release will be as well documented and simple to modify as the previous two versions. In fact, it will be even easier to modify due to the new extension model that let's everyone write extensions and hook them into the event model of BlogEngine.NET.

To take full advantage of the features provided in version 1.2 you might have to update your theme. It's only going to be one thing in one file that needs to change, but we have more precise info on that when we get closer to the release date.

Looks like the software is getting close to what I am loooking for. Going to start using it now, so its not so painful in a few months time.

Keep up the work and I may be able to give back to the project in the coming months.

Excellent project. Last time I looked for a .NET block engine, they all sucked. Great to see a nice one at last!

The only thing stopping me from changing to it right now is lack of custom urls supporting *.html. I'm using blogger (with .html) but I don't want to modify things outside of Themes else upgrading will be fun

Moving authorization to live id will be nice (I am lazy developer . But what I really need is inpage chat control. I am using dotblog to create something between community site and blog and ..ok, I have no idea how to write such control without SQL (using XML will have deep impact to performance, I think).

one more...voting I can handle voting control (ascx) but I don't understand user controls system in this. It looks more like asp.net handlers.

I have the blog setup off as a directory off of the main website. I got it working but the themes are messed up. Is there a quick fix for this or do I edit code?

Any estimates on the 1.2 release? I want to start using it, but the latest code is way too unstable, and 1.1 doesn't support slugs, meaning I can't change a title without breaking incoming links.

Can't wait for 1.2 now. I'm using the latest code up at http://blogsformoney.com/ now, but it'll be nice to have something slightly better tested than a random grab from the source control!

Hi,
I am using BlogEngine.net in my blog http://www.bloggingdeveloper.com. Today, I integrate ELMAH to my site. And I noticed that, when GoogleBot or Slurp enters to posts (e.g: www.bloggingdeveloper.com/.../...ions---ELMAH.aspx), it receives the following error "Cannot use a leading .. to exit above the top directory".

So, I googled the web and find the reason of the error. But I haven't come with a reasonable solution. So, I entered the UrlRewrite.cs and changed all rebaseClientPath from false to true.

I think, it is a very important problem because search engines cannot crawl posts.

Have you guys thought about using something other than GUID's for the primary keys in this beautiful application? With the addition of multiple authors, if this blog is implemented on a large scale - performance problems could arise... have you ever heard of COMB's? Maybe that would be nice, having an option to use these or within MSSQL Server 2005 they are now using GUIDs that are much quicker. So, maybe some sort of GUID/COMB factory could be implemented and configurable via the web.config...
