3:00 PM
That's the real life lesson here.

It weirds me out that people sexualize the main tank I play in the game

"I like my women how I like my coffee." "What, imported from a 3rd world country in a burlap sack?"

I'm actually kinda interested in Overwatch, but I don't have Windows. Also, once I got it I know I'd be terrible.

@Kevin looks intersting, I will read it later

I want to start playing Overwatch because my friend that lives a hundred miles away plays it and there's really not much else we can do together, and my friend that lives half a block from me plays it and he seems to be becoming disinterested in the things we used to have in common so it would be nice if we could re-bond over something to lessen the likelihood of not talking to one another for the next twenty years

3:01 PM
@davidism So what? You can party up with my group of (IRL) friends who are good and will carry us

... But first I need to upgrade from my potato-quality laptop.

@Kevin Srsly, get it.

The main issue is the lack of Windows, not the lack of skill. Unless you all have it on PS4.

@Jovito I would word it more carefully: you are invoking the function and assigning the value it returns to a

I wish I knew about the "free weekend" thing that happened before it was actually over. I could have seen what kind of framerate I'd get.

3:02 PM
make it clearer that the function is being called

The art style completely made me think I'd hate it, as was coming across a rather...creepy... set of drawings fans made of the female characters. But I bought it and was giggling as I flew around the map in a robot suit within like 10 minutes of starting it up.

overwatch is fun, but personally, playing solo gets really boring, it's a fun game with friends though. Also if you play ladder, the salt levels there........ is almost on par with League or Dota.

@davidism I think I have a windows 7 license that I can just give you

Luckily I am completely immune to any weirdness emanating from a product's fandom.

Or, if you trust windows the same amount that I do, save the game files to a separate partition and just use the windows 30-day licensing period as a "0day free for X days" sign

3:05 PM
teach me kevin... I am weak when it comes to product fandom... and it's the reason why I got overwatch in the first place.

@tristan I'm a junkrat player because I can't seem to do well with anything else :P

do you just give up your soul ?

@Jovito oops, I mean to b

@Kevin Yeah, kind of. Overwatch is reliant on team-based play, so it would mean interacting a lot with the fans

This is the first video I ever saw of Overwatch. The guy's actually pretty creative, his other videos aren't game related.

3:06 PM
Yeah, D.Va is my jam, as people would totally expect from me.

@MooingRawr I get by with a mix of 1) radical acceptance of the Universe as a chaotic and bizarre place, full of things that I would not personally approve of; and 2) complete disinterest in the opinion of anyone other than myself.
I suggest meditation and autism respectively for those.

@Jovito looks like he changed the question and invalidated your answer anyway

@Programmer That works. My buddies do the healer (mercy?), one swaps between junkrat and others, one does the hog guy with the hook or that paladin guy with the shield
I use DVa to get behind the enemies and grief so they chase me instead of taking objectives

My roommate's really into Overwatch right now, I'm sure I'd get a million tips if I started playing.

I haven't played in a while but when I feel like being annoying I play Mei.

3:11 PM
I've played for about 6 hours, so I guess you could say I'm crazy legit

Just have to get a second hard drive so I can dual boot without reformatting my Linux stuff.

@davidism aaaand subscribed

I'm usually Mercy but I'm trying to branch out more into DPS

One of the people that I play with mains mercy and we were just tearing things up because I could grief people into chasing me to where we had bastion camped up

3:20 PM
@KevinMGranger try for solder or reaper, both are fairly easy dps to get into.... if you've played csgo and is fairly decent at it, try mc "greed" or if you just wanna be a hyper annoying person play tracer

@MooingRawr yeah, overwatch is totally for casuals. i played mccree and noticed that ducking for ranged accuracy and recoil weren't a thing

I'm already fairly decent with soldier and reaper. I'm also surprisingly decent with Hanzo, so I might try to get scarily good with him just to piss off people in competitive

i think the list of ease of dps characters from easy to hard is: genji, soldier, reaper, pharah, mc cree, and then tracer

Yet I suck as genji :( I don't channel my inner weeb enough

@tristan I was merely suggesting that mc cree plays like csgo's head shot mentality where csgo players (high ranking ones) always aim for the head and usually get head shots

3:22 PM
@MooingRawr oh totally, i was building on top of that

@KevinMGranger genji is close range melee and then reflect while running away if ur in trouble... and jump like a monkey making you harder to hit... idk

genji's sword reflect is the bane of D.Va

it's also the bane of bastions

@doug65536 How about now? stackoverflow.com/a/40744213/2592879

I love the new d'va so much more fun to play

3:31 PM
cabbage

\o how goes it

I suck at structuring data

Can anyone explain how this sorts my given input list?
def sortedList(x,y):

    if x[0] != y[0]:
        return x[0] - y[0]
    else:
        return y[1] - x[1]

myList = [[1,1],[2,2],[3,4]]
 sorted = sorted(myList, cmp = sortedList)

I think it's a comparator function
it defines how the data should be compared

I understand that the cmp is doing some fun stuff, but not sure how it sorts it :/

3:34 PM
That's the old way to sort things by the way, you should be passing key instead of cmp nowadays.

It sorts by the first elements if the first elements aren't equal. If the first elements are equal, it sorts by the second elements.
... But I'm pretty sure that's how sort works even if you don't provide custom comparison logic, so I'm not sure what the point is.

I feel like implementing it as a class with a __gt__, __lt__ and __eq__ is a bit more understandable... but I might be totally wrong

Ahh, so the sorted combined with cmp allows it to work?

> cmp specifies a custom comparison function of two arguments (iterable elements) which should return a negative, zero or positive number depending on whether the first argument is considered smaller than, equal to, or larger than the second argument
It's all there in the docs.

3:36 PM
Incidentally, using sorted as a variable name is a bad idea because now you can never use the function sorted afterwards
and sortedList isn't a great function name for a comparator function, because it does not actually return a sorted list.

@Kevin well... you could do del sorted :p

And again, using cmp is inefficient (and confusing) compared to using key.

I feel like if you're using del in production quality code, something has gone horribly wrong.

I don't know what to think about this trailer.

@davidism When was the last time she was good in anything?

3:39 PM
Hollywood is a blind idiot that scrabbles heedlessly towards anything that might make money

Here's my official review: Highly stylized, great special effects, acting and reliance on stuff for the popcorn breathers in the audience will make it hugely forgettable.
